Flights from bangkok prices?

Any ideas where to look for one way flights from Bangkok to UK, i have looked at viser-versa and flights are 1/3 dearer from Bangkok i am looking at this for a friend of mine, i have booked a return flight from manchester to bangkok for £580, but for return bangkok to manchester prices above £870 and one way £460, this is with travelsupermarket, am i struggling with prices because this is an english firm, is my friend better off looking in travel agents over in thailand?
