Advise on Islands around Thailand

Hi,

 

I'm planning to do island hopping and looking for a good effordable diving place as i don't know much except for Phuket and Phi Phi.Read about Koa Toa and quite interested but saw some bad reviews about it.Can someone please advise me on places i should go or skip.We are just looking for a beautiful beach we can relax,have a little fun and enjoy the water sports and i'm thinking of.....

 

-Pattaya

-Hua Hin

-Ko Phangan

-Kao Tao

-Koh Samui

-Krabi

I've not dived for over 10 years in Thailand. There are some really good operations out of Pattaya however the waters are amidst one of the busiest shipping routes in SE Asia and is the least attractive on your list along with Hua Hin.

Koh Tao was the cheap choice years ago and was popular with backpackers but has gone upmarket and has some excellent sites. The problem I found with Koh Tao was it's such a small island and the accomodation is squeezed into such a small place and is somewhat overpriced by Thai standards.

I'd go for Koh Samui on this side of Thailand.

 

On the Andaman side ,Krabi area is a good choice as is Kao Lak.
