PAD ordered to pay B522m to AoT

The Civil Court on Friday ordered 13 leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) to pay 522 million baht in damages to Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) for the eight-day blockade of Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports in late 2008.

The court ruled on a lawsuit filed by the AoT on Nov 24, 2009.

Maj-Gen Chamlong Srimuang

The named defendants in the lawsuit include Maj-Gen Chamlong Srimuang, Sondhi Limthongkul, Pibhop Dhongchai, Somsak Kosaisuk, Suriyasai Katasila, Somkiat Pongpaibul, Saranyu Wongkrajang, Sirichai Mai-ngam and Maleerat Kaewka.

The PAD core members led a large number of people to rally inside the two airports from Nov 26-Dec 3, 2008, during their extended protest demanding the resignation of the then government under Somchai Wongsawat.

IUts farcicle really. This is ONE litigant and a peanuts amount of money to thes people who can get that amount simply by passing the hat round. They raised 520 million from one dinner FFS.

What about all the others inconvienced? Taxi drivers? Travellers, Thai business people, hotels who lost fortunes from lost tourism! They will now just be forgotten.

I can tell you what this is all about - its a tiny token slap on the wrist to try and give the impression they are being fair before they slap multi billions in fines on the reds for 80 days of losses.
