Booking my hotel....

Recommended Posts

OK, I booked my flight to the LOS and now I need to book my hotel. If I am reserving a hotel online, how do I take into account the time zone and International Date Line effects of traveling from the United States to Patts? Basically, my flight departs Detroit on the 13th of April at 3:15PM EST and arrives in Tokyo at 5:30PM local time I am assuming would be the 14th with the time zone changes. Arrive in Bangkok later at 11:45PM local time.

Since I am arriving late in the evening, would I book the hotel for night of the 14th even though I would be arriving at the hotel at like 2 in the morning after the drive from the airport. And are most of the hotels OK with such a late/early check-in?

Also, just found out that PBR is booked for the dates I am going to be there. Any other suggestions for a nice, clean and girl friendly hotel pretty close to everything in Patts? Thanks!

Your dates are correct.

Book 14th as your first night, but also send an e-mail to the hotel giving your flight arrival time at BKK and likely arrival time in Pattaya. Ask for an acknowledgement from the hotel. Perhaps ask the hotel to arrange a car pick-up from the airport?

I always arrive on a 10:45 or 11:15pm flight.

Yes, you have to book the 14th and tell your hotel cause they might give the room to an other person if they think you won't come.

As Kansuwan said, you'd better book a serious Taxi. I always do.

Like the other posters mentioned. You will need to book for the 14th, but tell them that you will be arriving at 2am on the 15th. Most places will not have a problem with a late check in as long as you tell them in advance.

I stayed at Secrets the first couple of days for my virgin trip and it served its purpose. Right near Walking Street, girl friendly. They might be full by now but worth a shot. The only problem is that your taxi wont be able to drop you off right in front of the hotel but it will drop you off about 1 -2 minutes walk from Secrets.

Im going to be staying at THE VAULT for a couple of days this go around. I cant say from experience how the hotel is since I havent been there yet, but from what ive read on the forums, and from the conversations Ive had with Mike the owner when booking my room, it seems like a great place as well. A couple minutes walk from Walking Street, and if you have any questions, Mike is more than willing to give advice. Theres a link to his website at the top of the forum page.

Regardless of where you end up staying. Your gonna have a blast!
