Iphone web browsing sim?

Recommended Posts

Heading to thailand on the 28th march (3 more sleeps) and have a question about mobile phone interenet. As i have an iphone i tend to use it for web surfing alot in australia. Last time i was in thailand i tried doing this but it chewed thru my thai phone credit so quickly it wasnt funny.

So does anyone know of a thai sim card that has cheap web browsing and also cheap calls?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

cheers

mark

You can use most thai simcards for that, but you have to subscribe to a gprs package too, else your phone credit will be gone in no time.

I use AIS 12Call simcard. Just top it up with credit, call 1175 and talke to the operator and say how many hours of gprs you want. 20hr 100thb, 50hr 200thb, 100hr 350thb. Valid for a month. They take payment from your phone credit.

Hey asked this question before. Anyone know whether any of the Thai networks allow MMS (picture) messages? Last trip sent multiple live pics back to a mate in Aus. When credit ran out got Thai sim. Internet was fine on ipone but no MMS?

Apparantly you can only send MMS with a Thai sim to certain countries,I had the same problem trying to send to the UK 5 years ago, went ok on my UK sim but cost the earth.Be worth checking if Australia is still on the ''cannot send'' list or not ?

There's a thread on another forum about this, some AIS shops do sell them, also Telewiz in Tukcom have them.Failing that buy a normal Thai sim and cut it to fit, they do still work.

My wife signed up for unlimited Internet at 650 thb per month. However you need to have that much credit to continue the next month otherwise it falls back to pay as you go which drains that much thb in a day or two.

That goes for any packages you buy. I run dry all the time and there is NO WAY it drains that much in a day or two. Just turn off your notifications so the phone dont go online by itself all time to check for stuff. 50 hours will easily last me a month. With 100 hours I never even got close to using it all. But if you live here, why use prepaid at all? Get a subscription.......

As soon as I insert Thai sim into my iphone the MMS tab vanishes. Is fine with Optus (Aus) sim but costs a shit load????
