I get a heat rash on my arms and the back of my neck when I spend too long in direct sunlight, the itching, especially at night can be unbearable, and if I scratch it, it spreads and causes a lot more problems.

I remember a trip to Koh Samui that was totally ruined because of this, I would spend every day on the beach and I had the best suntan I have ever had, but the bargirls must have thought I was a freak at nighttime when this crazy itching started..sometimes it was so itchy it was painful!

Now I only go out in the sun in moderation..no heat rash, and everything is fine. But I'm planning few days out on my next trip, and it may be a problem

Does anyone else get this? And if so, what do they do to prevent it? (short of wearing a pair of boxing gloves to bed!)

I have some anti-itching cream which is good stuff, but I'd rather not get the rash in the first place. I've tried antihistermine tablets, which done no good at all, but maybe I bought the wrong brand as these tablets were very inexpensive.

I have seen a large tub of something in 7/11 with "Prickly Heat" written accross it. Anyone used this? and what is in it? I assume it's a powder so not much use for arms and neck.

It's mainly talcum powder.

Farkin eh, man.

I got a bunch of Prickly heat from some frozen prawns I bought here at Friendship Supermarket.

Doused myself in Calomine Lotion, plus took some anti- histamines from the local Soi Buakhow pharmacy, plus some local snake oil cream...

Apparently they feed their ocean- farmed produce with a stack of anti-biotics and other crap to grow them, so be very wary, just eat at reputable seafood joints. NO farmed stuff.

Took me five to seven days to shake off the rashes and drove me mad at night.

You WILL get over it, but it will take some time. Meanwhile, stay off the seafood.

Well first of all, as much as it sucks, you have to stay out of the sun. I get it and stay out of the sun as much as possible. If I do get it I'll take 1 or benadryl before I go to bed and put cortisone cream on the areas also. A health doctor I know who is into natural remedies has told me to stop eating or drinking all dairy. And I mean ALL dairy. No cheese, milk, ice cream. Anything to do with a cow since cows are filled up with steroids to produce more milk. Cheese is 5 times worse for you than milk. I"ve been doing it for 4 months now. I haven't tested the theory but I'm sticking with it.

My advice is just to stay out of the sun. After all the only thing it does is damage and prematurely age your skin and if it's giving you an itchy rash at the same time it's even more of a reason to stay pasty white. Also in my experience most of the girls love the white skin and can't understand why people sunbathe.

Try different antihistimins. I get heat rash, and some tablets have little effect whilst others like zirtek work a treat

I use diaper rash ointment (US brands are Desitin or Gold Bond), it is heavy in Zinc. I put some on the effected regions before bed and then by AM the rash tends to be cleared up
