Baan Sila hotel/apartments in Soi 11 Beach Rd.

I am back in Patts from May 23rd. to June 23rd. this year. I am thinking about renting a room at the Baan Sila in Soi 11. It looks great on the website, but we alle know that those presentations may be a little ... or a lot ... different from the reality ;-) Any info, please? The location is obviously great, but are there construction going on around it, are they girl friendly, what is the standard of the rooms etc. Thank you!

Def girl friendly mate. hotel staff are great, as are cleaners, its basic but clean. Has decent sized tv, but reception was poor in the room I was in. Have fridge in room which is useful. Showers are rubbish tho. Any specific questions? I should be able to help u

Cheers mate; the thing about the showers doesn't sound good, as I'm going to stay there for a month ;-) They are offering me a standard room on high-up floor with a balcony facing south - what would the view be from such a room? Any huge construction going on around the place, like in Spoi 10?

The view from memory is just facing another hotel/appartment place. Nothing outstanding. The showers if left in place will flood the whole bathroom, so you have to be careful. But usually the girls aren't, and it annoys me when have wet floors. sometimes cold as well. I've been told there are better to be had for the money, new ones on the road with wetherspoons pub. I forget the name though lol

Oh, I know what you mean - those Thai babes dig their looong showers! Well, it doesn't sound that outstanding, especially since they want 24k for a month ;-)

for half that price you could get a month in better rooms just across the way in Soi Honey, the newish built ones like adams or harrys or casa de lobo are all about 14k or so for the month with water and electric

 

rooms all have LCD, big fridges, cleaned daily, massive power showers

 

more money to spend on mongering

how does those you mention compare to intown holiday?

i use to stay at intpen 9th floor so it keeps you away from the noise and you got some view of the town.

the quality of the rooms in say casa are far superior, plus cleaning every day for no extra charge , so those that bang every night a bonus as no hairs around the next night

I took a look at this place out of pure curiosity

 

If you are staying for a month seems a nice place for around 1300 a night you get a deluxe room - which includes electric, water and internet (these are separate charges but I built them in) - 35 sq metres but it is 2 rooms a bed room with en-suite and a living room. However I never negotiated as the guy who showed me was just a porter - perhaps the price can be lowered.

 

It has cooking facilities and a huge fridge with a telly in each room.

 

Positives - excellent and very quiet location - no building at the moment - not sure how the rear is affected by noise, has a swimming pool - fair size for lengths - which the others mentioned for less money do not have. Modern and clean rooms - never got to see the one large suite they have which is bigger than this one.

 

Negatives - cleaning only done twice a week, separate charges for electric water and internet (you purchase air time)

Very deserted road - no 7-11/Family Mart on your doorstep. No lift.

 

In conclusion there is always someone with a better suggestion, but people do not compare apples with apples - they quote places that are off the beaten track or do not have a swimming pool etc etc

 

If I was staying with a long term gf (because of cooking facilities) or intended to have several girls joining sometimes in two and threes - this could be the place to do it.

 

As always I am very interested to hear of direct comparisons of Holiday/Serviced Apartments BASED ON A MONTHS rental - and not the ones where they want 3 months deposit etc etc

Can't complain with Baan Sila, it's very comfortable and everything is at your feet. Yes you may have to walk a few metres so don't be lazy haha. Def recommended mate.
