Weather - how bad is it?

I am planning on my first visit ever to Pattaya and am now looking at the very end of may and the first couple of weeks of june.

But how bad is the rainy season at that time of year? And is the humidity so high that it is impossible to be active (in any way)?

i went in may last year and the humidity was high, it was a bit much to go for a long walk but the rain was never a problem,

if it did rain it was only for an hour maximum.

I work hard to support those on benefits! :Banghead2:

Don't worry about the rain: the water wil be warm.

Just be sure to stay in a hotel that doesn't get flooded.

Some members could give you advice where to stay without getting wet feet.

I can't because i never stayed in Pat's while wet season.

The only place you have to worry about humidity is when you're lining up for the passport control in the airport. It's AC'd taxi's, bars, clubs, hotels after that. Ladies also bring you cool towels in bars. It can get uncomfortably humid outside, just head for one of the malls/bars to cool down.

Not a lot you can do when it rains, but it tends to come down heavily for a while and then go away just as quick. Thats when the baht bus becomes very handy.

It does happen that there could be 1 1/2 foot of water at the end of some soi's and people dressed in jeans/pants will get soaked crossing the road - have shorts & sandals at the ready. Happened me when in Soi13 last year, lesson learned.

Ive been in May and June before and....well....its hot and its damned humid!

All newbies tend to think that because its the start of the wet season that it must rain all day every day.

Wrong...it might rain (torrentially!) in the evening for an hour or so but after its stopped thats the time to sit outside a bar with your BF because it becomes wonderfully cooler!

At 2pm during the hottest 'sweat dripping' part of the day I always find a poolside to lay out and relax or find a spot in the shade where I can just people watch as I'm not a big daytime drinker.

Been there May / June -

Your going to SWEAT a lot :)

Its not all bad though - walk into a bar and be given a COLD wet towel from the fridge which is always nice.

PLUS its another reason to get an extra couple of showers back at your room with a lady :) :) :)

All good ideas. You could just drink in aircon bars if the heat is too much for you.

During the day I sometimes like to drink/socialise at Lolitas in Soi LK Metro or Bliss bar in Third road. Both are lovely and cool and have the advantage of some nice aircon rooms upstairs.

As they say their service will "blow you away"

Seeing that you are from the same county as me, I will say it is going to be hot and humid for you, but that goes no matter what month you are going :)

Rain will not last long, Last year was a bit hot, who knows what this year will be like.

There are always not far to the next aircon place in Pattaya. If it´s very hot you may not use your feet to much, but with the "bathmobils" it´s never a problem.

Ofcourse we all handle hot weather differently.

I will go three months from June 4 this year.

I agree on that: For a Dane the weather is f...... hot and humid. But after a couple of days you will get used to it. Shagging girls will not be a problem. You can always drink a cold beer and turn on the aircon to cool you down :GoldenSmile1:

Thnx for the heads up. I am still wondering about my trip because an extremely hot little spinner have entered my life - here in Denmark of all places (and yes - she is asian!).

Hmmm - I don't drink that much alkohol so will probably be the only guy walking around with a bottle of water 24/7 ;)

Good plan, staying hydrated is tough, you will be sweating a lot so keep the water handy. Alcohol lowers your body temperature so the apparent heat level goes up and you sweat even more trying to keep cool.

It's going to be hot mate, real hot, April May are the hottest months in the kingdom. Keep out of the direct sun light, wear a hat, sun glasses, drink heaps of water, it's a bit of a shame you don’t drink beer. Alcohol stops you going crazy from day after day of constant heat and humidity, in a drunken state things don’t seem that bad, ladies seem better looking, people seem friendlier there is even a skip in your step.

When it rains it is not cold but it does bucket down and you will get wet…but it is no big deal…..well…that is as long as it doesn’t flood, don’t stay on the ground floor.

cheers, good luck..... :Chokdee:

I think the guys have pretty much covered the weather issue for you - hot and sweaty with brief downpours. Coming as I will be from Perth, the only thing that will change for me is the level of humidity and the novelty of actually seeing rain. It's been in the mid to high 30's here now for months and rain is a vague memory for us!

You won't be the only one drinking water or soda in Pattaya mate, lots of BM's will be sitting around drinking the soft stuff, either through choice or because (like me) they just can't handle non-stop beer any more. The bars won't care as long as you spread a few baht around whilst you're there. Have a great trip, I'll probably see you at one of the meet-ups.

Cheers
