Thai bank account opened in UK

Does anybody know if it possible to open an account at the London branch of the Bank of Thailand (or anywhere else outside Thailand!) with a view to qualifying toward a retirement visa? Or does 800,000 have to be deposited in Thailand itself?

Why do you not do what I did??

Open an account with the HSBC in the UK. Then with teir help open a "Foreign currency" account with the HSBC in Bangkok.

No 150bt ATM charges and it is a bank in Thailand.
