For all you who carry Backpacks

Recommended Posts

Watch what the heck you are doing when on an airplane. When you are taking it off/or putting on your back, watch how you sling it. Many people just love to slam it up against someone's head. Also, this is a packing tip when placing it in the overhead bin, put the backpack in "longways"--many other people have to put their lifelong belongings up there too.

I love to watch that late person getting on the plane bring big carry-ons with him. They have that lost look on where to put things. How about "checking" it in at the counter goofy?

I get what you mean. I carry my laptop in a special padded backpack myself, and try to remain aware that it's a bit of a hazard when I'm slinging it on/off my backbiggrin.gif. It's the "Dudes" with all their worldly goods in a backpack as big as themselves that get me, why are they allowed as carry-on bags in the first place?

To be fair, it's not just the backpack carrying brigade that are terrors on a flight. I'm 191cm tall, so you'd think most people would be able to see me, yet I lose count of the number of times I've been clonked with a cabin bag or barged in to at disembarkation time.

Cheers

Ha ha interesting thread.

I personally have never been hit in the head (or done the hitting) on a plane.

I think on the way TO Thailand I would be forgiving....maybe not so much on the way home.

I'm thinking of just taking a backpack on my next trip...carry on only. But it will not be one of those massive back packers bags.

I will make sure not to hit anyone...although I usually make sure that I already have the pack off my back way before I step into the tight confines of the plane.

I always curse out the people who get on with their 2 cabin bags PLUS handbag. Was travelling Ryan Air once, where you pay extra to check your baggage instead of carrying on, and i was just laughing at the whingers on the plane who had no rooms for their bags because all the other cheap arse people did the same thing. I've travelled with only carry on before, but only 1 small bag. so not having a go at those kind of people.

And then Ryanair asked if it was possible for me to take my smallish bag out and place it under the seat in front to accommodate these fuckers. I'm near 6'4" and rarely fit in a seat, let alone have ample room to stick bags where my feet need to be. My answer to he was " Did that woman check ANY baggage at all?", when the answer was no, I said, "It's fine if the woman wants to save $10 on checked baggage fees, but I'm not going to accommodate her needs"

People, regardless of baggage just need to be aware of their surroundings. Don't board/depart the plane side by side down/up the ramp at a crawl place holding up people behind who want to walk at either a normal, or fast pace. Soceity in general.

Though my personal life philosophy is "There's always at least 3 people who think you're an arsehole, so don't fight it"

Jeez, must be quiet out there today.

Just off out for a liaison with CPT girl so I'll be on her back in an hour or so.

Be good. :GoldenSmile1:

Personally I take the biggest bag I can into the cabin... Saves me from having to wait around for my bag on arrivals plus I know it's safe.

Up to me.

Yeh, see you about hopefully.

I wouldn't rule out a comeback by Mr Dom just yet. :Think1:

Many people are totally oblivious to what goes on around them so that bag will get swung wherever. Not much you can do about it except not be where you can get clobbered.
