Airlines,

When is the best time to fly to Thailand? When are the airlines not trying to rape you?

Anytime when schools are not on their holidays. Here in the UK, the costs of any holiday/flights go through the roof when the school holidays are upon us. This adds about 150-200 Pounds Sterling to flights to Thailand. I am sure it's the same in the US.

In general if you are from a western country, flights to Asia (and everywhere really) are cheapest in February, and the back end of January, and front end of March.

These are still peak season times and therefore expensive.

Things get cheaper from March through to July and September through to November. There are some good deals to be had through the European summer months if you book in advance.

From Europe (Denmark)

Mid november - February. High season price with peak season prices around Christmas time and New Year.

March - April. You can get some good cheap flight.

April - mid june. A lot of cheap flight.

Juli. High season prices, but you can still get some cheap fligth if you book in advance.

August - november. A lot of cheap flight.

I have found that may and september have the lowest price.

Best time to thailand, easy any time.

You have to really be alert to catch a "good" deal. I just booked a round trip ticket from Houston to Bangkok in April via Singapore air for $950. That is the best I have done (over $600 of that is taxes). The interesting thing was that is I changed the arrival or return date by one day the rate went back up to $1350 or more.

From Florida try looking at Korean Air out of Atlanta.

I will look into flying to Houston then Bangkok. I am working on July for this. I will also look into Korean Air.

What about Premium Plus seating?

You could have gotten flights for December for around £550 a few weeks ago but they all seem to have gone to around £600 now.

Well Singapore air has a direct flight from Newark to Singapore that has nothing but first class seats/bed. I was fortunate enough to take it one time. It totally defines Premium ... a ticket will run you about $12K.

Now back to the cheap seats ....

China Air is has tickets from NY to Bangkok for $927.

Used to be able to do West Palm to NY for $99.

For flights from the US to Asia the high season is during the summer. Most flights that cross the Pacific to Thailand stop in Northeast asian countries like Japan Korea, Taiwan. This is the busy season for those counties and ticket prices usually go up during the summer months.

I've found that the cheapest time to fly from Norway is in the early fall, before the high season starts.

Play on, player!

From Australia the usual cost is between $700-$1200 depending on season & airline

Most of my friends prefer thai airways & I have just booked my flights 30th april-8th may for $815 aud (great price)

Its a 9.5 hour direct flight

Have heard of bargain tickets with air asia for $650 but was never available when i looked.

I'm flying from Perth, the cheapest has been Tiger return for $430, at the moment I'm using Singapore airlines, last month it was $560 return and I'm going back again next month, again with Singapore and that one will cost $680 return.

I got a one way from BKK to Perth once with Jetstar for $156 all up.

I am always on the net looking for flight prices because specials just pop up and if you are flexible you take advantage of them. But avoid the school holidays and xmass.

I've got Air asia flights from as low as $450 return from Aus. Then have to add domestic flights from Sydney to Gold Coast or Melbourne then KL / Bangkok. My next trip is school holidays in Aus so paying $1200 return with Thai.

fligth from Istanbul to Bangkok with Turkish Airlines about 600 Euro if you buy earlier.

From the UK , I've found June the cheapest time to fly and a good time for hotels in Thailand too I think .

Absolutely best time is off season when carrier strogle to sell seats. I'll say most of the hot rainy season but airline ticket pricing is a jungle and you never know when they have some sort of promo. I'll normally use my frequent flyer miles but when I need a ticket I'll surf the web for a day or two looking for the right combination of money and time

Hi

UK travellers should note that EVA airs' high season prices conflicts with the high season in los. They tend to increse prices around July through to mid / late August, to coincide with the long summer school holiday in the UK. Not sure on Thai.

It's still possible to get cheaper tickets, but it's really a question of timing and the relationship you have with your travel agent, if you use the same one.Very often the airline will release tickets at a set price, and as they sell they become porportionaly more expensive.Booking in advance has always worked for me for two reasons, one, that I can arrange my annual leave easier and two, it often works out cheaper overall. Many of the middle Eastern airlines tend to keep their prices static all year round with the exception of xmas(or used to a few years back), but as I always travel direct I will happily stand corrected on this as I'm not entirely sure.

Agree thats about the only generally applicable advice. Low or less expensive fares are available at all other times if you look around.

The cost of air and transport taxes is now more than the cost of the airfare for flights at cost price.

Its also a fact that cheaper flights can be obtained sometimes by just changing the day of travel by one or two days. I fly (return to LOS)about 6 times a year and around £435 is a good fare rom LHR to BKK £485 Man to BKK (If you can get it.

To me schedule is more important than getting the cheapest fare I wont spend over 3 hours waiting in airports.
