BANGKOK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Two pilots ejected before their Thai F-16 fighters crashed Monday in a forest, air force spokesman Monthon Satchukorn said. The pilots landed safely. Air force officials said the F-16s were part of a flight of four fighters traveling to participate in the annual Cobra Gold exercise, a multinational military drill, the Bangkok Post reported.

 

The planes crashed into a forest near Tat Ton waterfall in Chaiyaphum province.

 

The cause of the crash was not known. The air force spokesman said he didn't not believe the planes collided in midair because the pilots wouldn't have been able to eject safely.
