Hutch 3G Dongle for Short Time Hire.

Recommended Posts

I think Pattaya is actually on 2G, but this is a very good dongle service IME.

I signed up for the minimum 12 month Contract about 6 months ago and now I've moved into a house with TOT line in.

I have the option to suspend the Hutch service for a while, or I could sub-let.

It's on unlimited usage tariff, which is 1068 Baht/month, so if someone wants to cover that for a month or more..........

Edit - Probably more suitable for someone who is working online or downloading a lot and wants to leave it on 24/7.

The dongle is self instal P&P and looks like this :-

I was using it at my home out near Floating Market and I've used it out Laem Chabang way.

Mr Dom plugged it into his laptop here the other day and was pretty impressed as films he'd been hanging to download came off one after another.

I would assume it can only be better in town, but of course anyone can check it.

I'll PM you my #.

Mr Dom will have it till i go keep hold if not gone already, back today now not 2mo as expected!

Damn good idea!

Unfortunately, Hutch's 3G coverage is not expected to extend to Burriram for a good few years yet.

Pattaya's 3G coverage extends South to roughly Ambassador and North (to my knowledge) to Laem Chabang.

The dongle is still available folks.

Any trial welcome.

Hi Mick,

I will be in town in two weeks time. I will be working on the internet, and if the hotel does not have a good enough connection I will need to sort something else out.

If I have a problem when I arrive,I will contact you. If the dongle is no longer available once I have arrived, perhaps you could let me know where to go to aquire one.

Hi Callum,

Coming back already - you must be addicted lol - soon be time to look for a nice little Condo' to buy or rent?

We'll see what happens re Hutch Dongle.

The thing about this one is that it's 3G (maybe 2G at present) and that's likely to be a lot faster than a shared Wi-fi connection in a hotel or a One2Call/Dtach pay-as-you-go type.

It's on unlimited so it's probably more suitable for someone who is working online or downloading a lot and wants to leave it on 24/7.

The snag is that you can't get it without signing up for a minimum 12 months contract.

I did that last November because I was tired of the usual slow/impossible pay-as-you-go dongles.

Now I've sold and moved house and had a telephone line put in for a 6Gb (maybe) connection.

That means I've to pay for another 8 months yet, although I can suspend it.

Be good - what choice lol? :GoldenSmile1:

Hi,

I will be in town until 1st September. Then home and maybe apply for another visa. I need to log in to an online training room for hours every day for a course I am doing. I must have reliable reasonably fast internet.

Hopefully hotel wifi will be ok. But if not will need something else.

Hi Edge

I'm visiting Pattaya from 16th March for 5 days on my maiden trip. I need to stay connected during this time due to certain official commitments. I'm staying at the Baboona and I have been reading reviews about how unreliable their WiFi is. I would be happy to pay a half months rent for those 5 days if you would want to sub let it to me provided the dongle is still available. I'm a newbie and would not mind paying a reasonable and refundable security deposit for the duration I keep the dongle for, if you would prefer that.

The opportunity to have a beer with you in the process would be an added bonus!

Your proposal for the 5 days is fine, but I can't make a commitment until you arrive, because if someone like BM Cmw above arrived and wanted it for a longer term then that's the option I would have to take.

I hope you understand and can check a little nearer the time.

Sorry I don't know - might be worth bringing and asking, but as I said above, I had to sign up for 12 months (then the Dongle was free anyway). I don't know if you can get Pay-As-You-Go 3G.

I think there are some threads in Technical or search Internet in Title using the Silver Button.

Really you just want to go into Tukcom and ask around IMO. There are options using One2Call or Dtac for a start.
