maybe some vaseline to keep the area moist and ibuprofen to help stop the spread. and symptoms should go away as the skin heals. but probally a trip to the doctor followed by std tests to confirm cant remember the time it takes for herpes to show up on a test think its 7 weeks

Yep looks like herpes, I've had it in the past.

 

Go to the chemist and get some herpes/cold sore cream but it's going to take a few weeks to heel up and they will crack and bleed everytime he smiles.

 

Ibuprofen will have no effect at all on herpes, don't bother taking them. If they do not start to go within a week after using the cream please see a doctor and get something stronger. If you still in LOS it may be worth going straight to the chemist and getting something stronger now as they will serve it over the counter there and will have seen it all before.

 

It can spread much worse than this and cover your nostrils etc, cream up now.

 

Stay out of direct sunlight as well as it will get worse. Some people put iodine on them to help dry up.

I can recommend 'Vectavir' straight after the first signs of the problem (read 'infection'). To be applied every 2 hours during (say) 4 - 7 days. It will stop spreading the virus and after a week (or so) the problem has disappeared, but the virus remains in your body for the rest of your life.
