Bishnu Shrestha, a brave Gurkha soldier in Indian Army, defeated 40 train robbers while returning home after a voluntary retirement. The Indian army, is going to awarded Bishnu with Sourya Chakra, Bravery Award and Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha medals during the Indian Republic Day celebration on January 26.

While in the train, Maurya Express from Ranchi to Gorakhpur, on September 2, 2010, 35 year-old Bishnu saved a girl about to be raped by the train robbers in front of her helpless parents. After looting the train, when the robbers started to strip a 18 year old girl in front of him, he couldn’t contain his calmness. He took out his khukari and took on the a group of 40 robbers, alone. In the fight, he killed three of dacoits and injured eight others. Remaining dacoits fled the scene to save their lives.

I have the greatest respect for that brave warrior.

I spent a Day in a base in wales populated by Gurkhas and that is the safest I ever felt in any base in the UK with the exception if the nuclear bomber submarine base in Faslane, Scotland which is protected by the almost unpublished Royal Navy/Royal Marines elite force SBS (Special Boat Squadron). If you fail the entrance test to the SBS, the SAS will have a look at you for potential testing if you want to gauge their effectiveness. I have a good friend who lives owns a bar in Pattaya who is former Royal marine and Special Boat Squadron commando so i know a little bit about the squadron.

To even be a member of a Gurkha unit you need to be one special individual as the failure rate for people who enlist is huge.

I was once told about an exercise with the British Special Air Service and a Gurkha unit, where one night all the SAS were asleep except the sentry who patrolled around the area where they were camped. They thought it was an uneventful night until the sun rose and they all (except the sentry) had a dotted line drawn on their throats. That would scare the shit out of any man as it did to the German Army during the second world war

If I had a choice of fighting against a Gurkha or another big fucker, I would not be choosing the Gurkha, they are tough little fuckers, take it from me.

Former Chief of staff of the indian Army, Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw once famously said about Gurkhas:

“ If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha. ”

Good work by that brave man.

Wonder if you still would of got a medal for that in the UK....

No way would he get a medal,he'd be locked up on a murder charge and the lawyers of the men he killed would be after compensation for the "victims" families !

Self defense no way, he used more than reasonable force.

Carrying a concealed weapon.

So many people these days would have just let the men do what they wanted, especially with the number of them there was. I have to say that this man went beyond and with no regard for his own safety, job well done.

'Nuff Respect..

This man simply did the right thing even when the odds were stacked so heavily against him..

An absolute inspiration..

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.

We all agree this Ghurka soldier is a hero and deserves our respect but when a farang stands up against a Thai committing an act violence against a innocent person then some board members will call this farang an idiot. Talk about double standards here.

If she aint whoring she's boring!

It's nice to be nice :)

had the great pleasure of working with gurkhas myself, tough as boots, great soldiers but the nicest guys you could ever hope to work with.

they take great pride in serving in the british army, it is big kudos back in nepal. most potential recruits will walk for a couple of days just

to get to the recruitment centres. Only the best will get through the tests. glad they choose to be mercernaries for the uk and not against us.
