Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) - The Answer to a Long Life of Mongering

First a disclaimer... the following advice should be discussed with your physician prior to undertaking any hormone replacement therapy. Seriously, please talk to your physician first or at least do some intensive research. Don't blame me if you end up with tits the women are jealous of! Also... this is not an add, I am not drumming up business as I am not an HRT specialist... just an educated bloke who enjoys a healthy libido. I will not refer you to anyone other than going to Google and looking in your area.

I wanted to get some information into the forum of use... I am a newbie so I thought I would contribute something of value that has not been discussed much. There is some in-depth detail at the bottom of the post for readers that want to go deeper but I will start of with some quick facts for those of you with shorter attention spans.

The more testosterone you have the more you can knock the bottom out of it... bearing in mind you were born with the right sized tool to do so... lol. If not just die trying... it will be a good death to say the least! While HRT has been done for a long time in the bodybuilding world for some reason a stigma of not being "man enough" has kept some men from realizing a better life. Here is the background...

Facts about HGH Hormone and Andropause:

1. Testosterone, growth hormone and DHEA start to decline in mid to late twenties. That is when the aging process of Andropause begins in earnest.

2. Decreased hormone levels are not “normal for your age” (a phrase used by doctors who do not know how to treat it). Andropause is a health problem that requires treatment.

3. Medical science has known it is possible to regain youth by replacing hormones since the early 1990’s.

4. HGH Hormone does not decline because we age – we age because hormones decline.

5. There is a simple and effective treatment – replace hormones, testosterone, DHEA and/or growth hormone to younger healthier levels.

Hormones start to decline in the mid to late twenties and that is when the aging process sets in. We maintain fairly healthy HGH hormone levels until age 35 to 40 and that is about how long we could be expected to live until about 100 years ago. The effects of declining HGH hormones have only been a problem since we started living longer. Declining hormones, coupled with poor lifestyle, diet, exercise and stress are largely responsible for health problems and frailties of later years. The good news is these signs of aging can be easily reversed.

Age 35 is a good time to begin, and you are never too old. Men in their 80’s have found a new life doing this.

The whole idea of men going through menopause, or andropause and needing HGH hormone replacement therapy is "de-masculinizing". Virility is a man's second nature and when hormonal changes occur, usually starting to be felt around age 35, men see marked continual decline in abilities they once perceived to be as easy as breathing. Men find erections are not as frequent as they once were, sex is not as exciting because ejaculation is not as powerful and the stamina and endurance they once experienced in both work and play has dropped as well.

It seems that men, after forty-five, often have a hard time rising to the occasion and challenge of daily stresses. This is what is known as andropause or male menopause. So why do most men not know anything about HGH and andropause? It has only been recently that andropause has received attention and recognition, but why the holdup? There are many reasons behind the stifling of its discovery, along with many frames of mind that are still hindering its cure.

Why does Andropause go unnoticed so often? Because female menopause is so sudden and violent, ways to maneuver around its life altering effects and health diminishing aftermath have been under microscopic observation for decades. Doctors and scientists are well aware of the ramifications due to the absence of estrogen and progesterone. In the mean time men have kept their focus from themselves and their own hormonal induced weaknesses. The fact that it comes on so gradual, many men accommodate to the change.

Men do not talk or complain since it is not the "manly thing to do". Boys learn form their fathers to rise above their afflictions and never give the slightest indication of weakness. Our men patients here at the clinic talk openly about their needs. But each of them would also admit that they had difficulty making that first call and that they still can not admit or talk to their friends about their hormone replacement. Male pride is often a man's greatest strength and his greatest weakness.

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS... GET OVER YOURSELF AND GET OUT OF YOUR WAY!

The truth is, men are blasted with a reality check during their mid-forties. Their HGH hormone levels have dropped sufficiently that the erection that once greeted them in the morning ceases while their muscle definition fades and they notice they are getting a bit flabby around the middle. "It's all part of aging," they are told and they settle grudgingly into old age.

That is the past. The present and future is bright. There is a solution, there is a cure, and that is to replace lost hormones.

What to expect from HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy. Let's use an example of replacing testosterone in a 47 year old man: This man would have a total testosterone level approximately 300 to 400 ng/dl. He will be experiencing many of the symptoms mentioned. We would, based on his personality type, take his testosterone level to 700 to 1000ng/dl – the level it was at about age 25 to 30. What will happen? In the first two months he will notice an increase in mental quickness and a general improved enthusiasm for daily life. After about three to four months he will notice more energy and an increase in sex drive demonstrated by night dreams, spontaneous erections and an overall increased interest in sex. After his HGH hormones are at a healthy level, there will be a greater interest in being more active. If the man is in fact more active and depending on the nature of that activity, he can expect a further improvement in energy, endurance, muscle tone and reduced fat. Remember the energy, enthusiasm for life and sex drive at age 25 – 30? That is what you can expect if you get your hormones to a healthy level.

Ok... so that is the basic banter. Again, just trying to give some value added information that might help someone out there. More in depth info below.

Here's to your health!

What is testosterone? Testosterone is the principal androgen, or male sex hormone. One of the group of compounds known as anabolic steroids, testosterone is secreted by the testes but is also synthesized in small quantities in the ovaries, cortices of the adrenal glands, and placenta, usually from cholesterol. Testosterone is necessary in the fetus for the development of male external genitalia; increased levels of testosterone at puberty are responsible for further growth of male genitalia and for the development and maintenance of male secondary sex characteristics such as facial hair and voice changes. Testosterone also stimulates protein synthesis and accounts for the greater muscular development of the male (see metabolism). For many years, bio-identical hormones have been used by athletes with the goal of improving performance. Now Hormone Replacement Therapy has moved into the mainstream and can be doctor prescribed to anyone over the age of 30 showing a medical need, and who wants to improve their quality of life.

When does it decline? Testosterone begins to decline in men at about age 25. Testosterone has a number of effects on muscles, bones, the central nervous system, bone marrow, the prostate and sexual function. Androgens, especially testosterone, regulate the normal growth and development of male sex organs and promote other male characteristics, such as body hair, muscle mass and a deep voice. The most common type of treatment for testosterone deficiency is known as testosterone replacement therapy or hormone replacement therapy.

Men who receive testosterone replacement consequently report that they feel sexier, stronger and healthier. They state that it makes them feel as they did when they were in their prime. After all, this is what replenishment of hormones is all about. It is about restoring hormones to youthful levels so you can feel as you did when you were at the peak of your physical and mental ability. Testosterone can stop and reverse the physical decline that robs men of their energy, strength and libido. Testosterone can restore muscle tone and improve stamina. Testosterone Therapy can restore healthy sexual excitement and Desire, which in turn, results in an improvement in mood and overall well being.

Testosterone is responsible for the sex drive for both men and women. As testosterone diminishes with age, so does the sexual functioning in both men and women. Restoring testosterone to youthful levels in both men and women can reverse the situation. All too often, men and women automatically assume that as they age, their sexual capacity will diminish. There is no need to accept this loss of sexuality. Testosterone can play a critical role in helping to preserve and even restore sexual function so that we can live our extended life span with the same excitement and enthusiasm we enjoyed during our youth.

Physicians are witnessing an explosion of interest in testosterone as a result of our growing realization that Testosterone Levels decline with age and that many men suffer serious consequences to their physical and mental health as a result. In women, it is expressed as menopause, whereas, in men, it is expressed as andropause. Many of these symptoms and disease processes that we come to accept as normal aging are processes that are actually secondary to low testosterone levels and are easily correctable. Testosterone supplementation results in increased muscle strength, muscle size, increased energy level, decreased fat and increased Desire and endurance for exercise. Now both men and women may be treated for their sex hormone deficiencies.

Testosterone replacement in the past has been associated with increased cholesterol levels. We feel this is probably secondary to the use of synthetic testosterone that resulted in liver dysfunction and the concomitant elevation of cholesterol. Studies now show that replenished with natural testosterone results in a decreased cholesterol and increased HDL, similar to what has been realized in women taking estrogen.

Clearly, testosterone is shown to have a positive impact on our health and well being, our moods and our ability to learn and retain information. Testosterone has been administered in the form of injections and oral supplements. We prefer not to use either of these methods as the testosterone is in the synthetic form. Testosterone patches are also available. We have found these patches unacceptable and secondary to the ability to get optional blood levels and feeling of the patch. Most patients prefer not to use these patches after experimenting with them. The method of choice is a natural testosterone injected inter-muscular or as a topical gel applied to the skin.

Testosterone cannot be used if one has prostate cancer. Testosterone has not been shown to cause prostate cancer, however, if one does have prostate cancer, testosterone may cause accelerated growth of this tumor. Therefore, there is a need to monitor the PSA on a regular basis to assure that one does not develop prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It can be easily detected by an annual PSA test. In addition to testosterone supplementation, THARC recommends the daily use of Saw Palmetto, which is a medication to protect the prostate and prevent enlargement of the prostate due to formation of DHT. Most men develop prostate hypertrophy in their later years, and this can be effectively treated and prevented by daily use of Saw Palmetto.

Testosterone has a number of effects on muscles, bones, the central nervous system, bone marrow, the prostate and sexual function. Androgens, especially testosterone, regulate the normal growth and development of male sex organs and promote other male characteristics, such as body hair, muscle mass and a deep voice. The most common type of treatment for testosterone deficiency is known as testosterone replacement therapy.

What is Hypogonadism? (Testosterone Deficiency)In men, hypogonadism is a condition in which the testes produce a less than normal amount of testosterone, the male hormone. When too little testosterone is present, men tend to undergo a drop in sexual Desire and performance. They may also experience depression, fatigue, loss of motivation and osteoporosis. The size and strength of their muscles may diminish and their body hair may become sparse. These symptoms are not specific to testosterone deficiency, however, some men with hypogonadism often don't recognize that they have a medical problem that is treatable.

Hypogonadism is a term medical professionals use for this condition and you'll see why it is often overlooked. Women go through menopause when their production of female hormones drops off dramatically, usually during middle age.

Testosterone And the increased risk for mortality in men - A new study has revealed that men with low levels of the hormone after their 40s have a higher risk of death over a 4-year period. For now, all the study can safely reveal is that low levels of the hormone and the risk for death are linked. The nature of the relationship, however, is yet to be discovered. Menopause often comes accompanied by several complications; foremost among them is the risk for osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. The normal density of the bone usually starts to deteriorate during the fourth decade of life, necessitating the need for calcium supplementation, increased exercise, and intake of medications to stop bone loss. It is also a fact that women have a lower risk for cardiovascular diseases before hitting menopause. This reverses once menopause sets in and is attributed in part to lowered estrogen levels. Bio-identical hormone replacement can correct this aging problem and keep you in the safe zone with no ill effects and without the worry of breast cancer which was once a result of synthesized horse urine used in hormone replacement.

Do you not mean Testosterone instead of HGH in the above sentences?

Interesting article and very true IMO though.

I have been taking DHEA (50mg) every day for over 3 years, I also occasionaly do a course of testosterone injections (Sustanon or Cypionate).

I started doing this after reading the book "Feel great, live longer" by Dr Atkins and other reserach. I would recommend this book if you are interested in this stuff.

My daily supplements are as follows

DHEA 50mg

Multivitamin and mineral pill (good quality)

CO-Q10 100mg

Omega 3 6 and 9 capsule 1000mg

Has it affected me? hard to say. I think I look well, I am the fittest I have ever been but thats mostly due to doing a lot more excercise than I ever used to. When I supplement the testosterone it makes me want to have sex about 10 times a day and gives me more energy for gym etc. This is very obvious.

I am 33 by the way.

Very interesting article, thanks.

The natural testosterone part sounds intriguing.

I should get my blood testosterone levels checked.

Assuming that one lives in the Jomtien (Pattaya) area, are there certain clinics that are recommended for the diagnosis and management of this condition? What would that treatment normally entail? Can you give me a very rough ballpark figure on the likely costs?

Thanks very much in advance.
