Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Be careful out there.

Thats really weird you saying that, just 10 minutes ago i was told this story of two bulls......

Two bulls look down the valley and see a herd of cows.

The younger bull says to the older bull " lets run down there a shag a cow"

The older bull replies " no lets stroll down there and shag all the cows".

Sometimes experience and wisdom does have its advantages over the young bucks :Drink4:

I found this. As an experienced rider of almost 20 years I have to be blunt. If you plan on renting, ride outside of town and be very careful.

Scooters are dangerous enough and with a sport bike the excitement of opening it up is just too much of a risk. Pattaya is a a congested place with very little traffic laws, that are enforced. With 20 years under my belt I have still dumped 4 times, one major. It was simply someone who did not see me.

I would not even get on a motor scooter in Pattaya, just too many invariables that I cannot see or control.

But if you really want a go. Here is some info I found. Sorry, could not locate any rental places but they are there. See many people on sport bikes.

Race track

2nd track

I am a fat kid in a sweet shop, I just cannot choose and want it all.

I made a few inquiries out of curiously a few years ago into renting bikes in Pattaya seem to remember being told around 3,000 bht for week on something like a R1 or Fireblade.

Having had R1 and a CBR600 in the garage back home in the UK at the time it was not something I needed to get out my system so I just looking, I did however look over a few bikes and found them to be in very poor shape, bald tyres, damaged forks etc, not something you want if you plan to open up a R1 on the open road, not that you will find one around Pattaya that's safe to even red line it in 2nd gear let alone try going for top end.

Have never seen a Hayabusa for rent in Pattaya but I am sure must be one somewhere but it's a big heavy bike for Pattaya traffic.

Do some serious research before hiring in Patts there are a lot of stories out there of bikes conveniently going missing during the hire period and you may have to replace it as I belive many of the beach road hire venders don't offer full insurance, they may also want to hold your passport during the hire period, not something I would even consider just to hire a bike, but if you decide to go down that road they have you by the balls on return day and want to claim for any so called damage.

It's your choice but I would recomend doing your biking back in your home country where you know the RULES, and if you can't i.e. no licence, then Thailand is not the place to learn on today's top sports bikes, but I hope that's not the case, nobody wants to see any more pic's like the ones of the two Welsh lads up by Soi 2.

To put it in plain english;because thai people have been getting around on foot and riding scooters at 40 kms an hour, since birth, they have limited eyesight and no idea of depth perception.

That is; their eyesight doesn't register an oncoming vehicles speed, let alone a hyabusa doing 150 clicks.

It's not how good a rider you are,it's the thais around you that make you have an accident.

Do what 99% of us do and ride a scooter.

Just trying to save a life mate.

I hired a Kawasaki 650 from a place on one of the soi13s, just off beach rd. I took a little tilak on it to the Million Year park. It was good for a roamd trip, but when we got back to Pattaya it gave me the shits. Trying to park it in tiny little parking spots, hard to manuever in congested traffic, couldnt get it out of 2nd gear. I took a helmet, gloves, mesh jacket and kevlar pants from home, and while I NEVER ride back home without all the gear, in Patts I pulled over after 5 min and took it all off apart from the helmet, it was just impossibly hot.

Unless you have a big road trip planned, or want to ride past the bars like a poseur to impress girls who only want your money, Id strongly suggest sticking to a scooter to get around. My 2c.

Agree entirely.I had a Fireblade in the UK before I moved here, after a couple of months here I got the urge to rent one,I paid for 4 days (2800bt) and it was a waste of time around Pattaya. The bike was a beauty but it was uncomfortable in the traffic with all the heat from the engine etc.

Out of those 4 days it was parked up for 2 days, there's no fun in having a big bike here at all,no where to go for a blast and get your knee down, nothing.

Hi,

Don´t know if you re still in Thailand, but if you want to hire a bike in Pattaya and then have a tour around, I can provide you some help.

I m riding my own big bike for 6 months now and know very good places between Chonburi, Pattaya and Rayong.

Don t worry about the traffic or the ability of thais people to provoke accident: if you re a good rider with good reflex you should be used to anticipate anyway with calm.

For the bike stolen, you can just avoid that by buying your own big lock and locking the disk brake when you let the bike somewhere. (the price for a lock is quite few compared to the deposit for the bike).

Anyway, if you re still motivated just send me a mp. I am just a little fed up to ride alone on week ends(it s nice but sad.. :( )

And YES, around Pattaya there are a looot of places preserved, wild and beautiful... XD A big bike is the best way to enjoy...

We are just dust in the andins mountains as we are a little leaf in amazonian forestry. Love this.
