Cheap airfares with Thai from Sydney and Melbourne

Recommended Posts

Folks,

Thai airways has advertised very cheap airfares to travel during next week on it's website. $329 (one way) from Melbourne and Sydney. http://www.thaiair.com/AIP_SuperDeals/DisplaySpecial

not a bad deal, but only applicable for one way and have to add taxes of around $80.Also please note that BA have return fares including taxes for $1,030 for travel from mid Feb 2011

That is cheap. Only issue is it's one way (as rooster mentioned) so I wonder how you go trying to come home price wise(although staying forever would be nice).

I looked up Jetstar website the other day for return trip in late April and it was $920 return with no frills. Seems like a good deal as it is direct and a lot cheaper than the normal Thai Airways flights. Wish I could go next week though.

I booked a ticket for someone on Jetstar coming from BKK to MEL in Mar and return ticket costed me $680 including food, entertainment and pick of my seat. One way from BKK to MEL was around 7,800 baht.

Strategic Airlines are starting direct flight from Melb to Phuket at start of Febuary and there opening offer is $299 Return just have to get from Phucket to Pattaya and back to phuket.

Jetstar had Boxing Day sale on 26-28 of December last year, I managed to buy return ticket from Melbourne for $480.00!! No food or entertainment unit though  They have these sales regularly, you just need to be on their mailing list not to miss next one.

I think I need to try a bit harder by the sounds of it. You guys have some great deals. I saw the advertisement for Strategic Airlines on TV one night flying to Phuket. I have never heard of them but that is an amazing fare. Don't know if I can be stuffed going back and forth from Phuket to Pattaya though.

I have put myself on their mailing list now. Just wondering if you knew whether you can still pay for the meals and dvd player once you are on the plane if you want them? I would probably just go a snack or two and perhaps a movie but outlaying the extra $60 or so seems kind of excessive.

Yes, you can still buy it on a plane, but I think it's a little bit extra. Just take 2 sandwiches and a book and you'll be just fine :))

Yeah I got Jetstar in March for $550 but no extras with that.

Air Asia in September for $270 return.

Up till about 2 weeks ago Thai airways had a deal for traveling between Febuary till April 25th MELB to BKK return $825. now that was very cheap. I got Thai airways the first time in December for a 3 week trip 1- 23 $915 return. I thought that was cheap for it being in peak session. But the cheapest flight I ever got was with Air Asia $99 KL - MELB 15kgs for bags plus food, the flight from BKK - KL cost $70 so a total of $170 from Thailand to Australia, some go go girls can make that much in 1 night! I am looking for a cheap flight for a 3-4 week trip in April but it only seems to be jetstar for $980 with every thing included. Air Asia seems to be the same price with a stop over in KL which I fuckin hate that airport. But if Air Asia do a crazy cheap deal like they have done in the past I'll be up for it. sometimes you can save $300 or more, now that's about weeks worth of Soi 6 visit's for me.

I never seem to be able to book a cheap fare with Air Asis, those fuckers send me emails telling me how cheap they are eg $299 one way to BKK ($600 return) from Gold Coat (nearest Airport for me) book before 23 Jan etc but I will be damed if I can figure out how to get the promo price ? Do they have 1 seat only or some such bullshit and once it's booked thats it ?

Yeah. I got quite a few of these fares but you have to book well ahead. My Sep fare was purchased in Nov 2010 for example.

With Air Asia's cheap flights you always just have to keep looking on the website about once or twice a week. Most of the cheap flights I got where booked about 6-8 months in advanced. In march 2010 I got MELB to KL, KL to Philiipines, Philippines to KL, KL to Vietnam, Vietnam to BKK, BKK to Cambodia, Cambodia to BKK, BKK to KL and KL to MELB all for $890. I did book it all in June 2009 when the crazy deals where on. They don't seem to have as many now and cost about the same as jetstar, and jetstar has no stop overs which is a big plus and I am willing to pay up to $100 more for that.
