Frenchman arrested for threatening another foreigner in south Pattaya

Police arrested a 19-year-old French national at a hotel in south Pattaya after he had threatened an Englishman and his Thai girlfriend at their room in the same complex. About an hour before sunrise on Tuesday the receptionist at the Prima Place apartment on Third Road in south Pattaya called police to attend the scene as a 19-year-old French national, Salim Azzug, had threatened an Englishman and his Thai girlfriend with a long-bladed knife. The Frenchman was taken into custody and claimed he had just come back from a night of ingesting alcoholic beverages on Walking Street. He had become involved in an argument with some Thai men on the street and when he returned to the hotel he was still angry. At the same time he entered the lift to go to his room he shared the conveyance with a 29-year-old Englishman and his Thai girlfriend. Mr Azzug didn’t like the look of them, and it may well be the feeling was mutual, so when he exited the lift he went to his room, grabbed his knife and went to the Englishman’s room and tried to break in, banging the knife against the door. Police soon arrived and took Mr Azzug down to the station.

Alcohol can temporarily raise mood enhancing chemical levels like those of serotonin, this is how it can improve mood, but in excess

alcohol makes these serotonin levels fall and lowers mood, increasing depression.

Salim Azzug eh?

Good old traditional French name then, sort of like their Fred Smith perhaps?

What the hell was he doing with that knife in his room? Hardly a camping accessory.

"night of ingesting alcoholic beverages on Walking Street" Sounds like it happened accidently....like drinking rat poison.

At least the reporter had a sense of humour.

Well, yes, but most don't start threatening random strangers with knives. I'm going to go with the "guy is an asshole" theory, I think.

>> Mr Azzug didn’t like the look of them, <<

If that was a sufficient reason to start a knife fight I would be in trouble every time I look in the mirror.

With this name, no doubt, he's a pure french man...

even more concerning is what he was doing returning to his room alone.

LOL at the speakers comments in the last 10 seconds of video.

I think this young man had taken something stronger than just alcohol. Idiot.

That was a funny video report.

i liked the reporters sense of humour :Grin_Jump1:

Call him what he is. something like "a french national of north african mohammedan descent" might be more appropriate. Just his name alone tells you not French. then you see his photo. not french.

The guy's ethnicity does not appear to be relevant to the news - please bring the discussion back to the reported events if you wish for the thread to remain open.

I think it is relevant to his weapon of choice. I'll just say that and bow out.

I move that the knife to be elevated to the level of a sword as it couldn't be used for anything aside from killing people or butchering meat. Guess that guy won't be seen at the Sunday night pig roasts for a few months:(

Nasser Hussein, former England cricket captain. But for some people it does not matter if he was good enough because his "name" is not English.

Come on, just come right out and say it.

Funny how some people will never accept the nationality of a person because of their "name" but enjoy fucking young brown skinned girls.

Wonder what the missing pieces to the story are....what you hear is usually only a portion of the story. Also, in many cases both parties are fined for fighting if they are farangs. Glad I was not around... I hate knives and beer bottle aggression....

By the same token, if you take a Thai girl back to England with you as your wife, she will always be Thai, never English. A person cannot change their nationality by simply changing the country in which they choose to live.

And if an Englishman chooses to live in Thailand he will be English till the day he dies , never Thai. Joanna Lumley was born in India but she's not Indian. Neither is Cliff Richard.
