Was walking down soi 7 towards the beach and on the left there was an Indian bloke :Sir you need a suit?

ill give you a good price.Over few years i learned best thing is to just ignore them if you

speak just one word you are dragged in and measured.I completely ignored him he says in Italian 'La fenkulo'(spelling?)

(i believe it means F you or go F yourself). Two days later same place and this guy goes off again this time in german(du bist ein vixer) meaning you

are a wanker.Honestly this guy was pushing his luck.Good thing none of my friends were there this would have ended badly.

One day he will piss off the wrong people but for me it was a good laugh.Anyone had a similar experience with the suit sellers??

they can make rude comments sometimes, i just blank them like they dont even exist... and i dont even feel bad about that, fuck that just trying to earn a living they are low lifes and plenty of reports of people being ripped off if they do buy anything. I saw them grab tight hold of the arm of a female european tourist once who screamed the place down. Maybe some people found a decent tailor, well done .. but i bet he doesnt stand the street corner harassing people!

O you who turn the wheel and look to windward, Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you.

I was wondering about this subject having read about them more when I first joined. I am wondering the consequences of slugging them if you give them a warning before saying "let me go or I am going to hit you". I know it's supposedly a different place and culture in India as well as Thailand, but sorry, there are enough westerners there for them to know that people do not like this.

I always found this annoying and out of place. Why do you even need a suit in Thailand when you are wearing shorts.

I always ignore them, seems to work. I do not know what I would do if they pulled at me.

I have never really understood this sales pitch. Excuse me mr. You want to buy a suit in this tropical weather.

I am a fat kid in a sweet shop, I just cannot choose and want it all.

i have put a few on the floor not proud of this but can only be pushed so far and most of them go much to far

I guess I should set up shop to sell winter coats.

I just ask for their card and tell them I will call them later as I am busy at the moment! Has worked well, I don't appreciate random guys touching me period.

There is one small flaw with this plan .I dont want to miss the sweet calls of ladies. How much for you sexy man?Maybe the girls wont shout out when im wearing earphones. This would be tragic lol.

Yuk! Sounds messy.

If anyone does need a suit (to take home or whatever) take a walk down Soi Day-Night near Tukcom.

It's where the Indian 'Tailors' go to get them made at half the price.

So... before ever coming to Thailand and knowing much about it, I always thought that Bangkok was _the_ place to stock up on super awesome tailor suits for cheap.

Then I went there. Then I did some research and wised up.

BKK tailoring is junk. Those $50 suits look like $50 suits. Crap cuts, crap materials. And if you actually want quality, it will be no where close to $50. Quite expensive actually. And if you go to the top places, you will pay as much as you will pay a tailor in NYC/Washington, DC.

This was a huge disappointment/let down.

That said, at least in BKK, the tailors never bother me for some reason. Actually, none of the street hawkers bother me. I guess I just look like I'm in a rush and semi-local or something. If I slow down and play tourist, that's when they start to give me attention.

If you've got some time to kill go back there and f*** around ordering a heap of shit and then change your mind when it's time to hand the cash over.

Get one of you Indian suit sellers to make you a nice suit, preferably in white or cream, get a set of headphone on,go for a walk and when you see any nice young ladies do a Michael Jackson move on them, the girls will scream at you and CUM on here knickers and throw them self at you. Just give it a go and let us know how you got on. :P :P

From Pattaya Tai turn up the side of TukCom.

Take 2nd left where the cloth wholesaler is on the corner, into Soi Day-Night.

There are proper tailors on both sides all the way down to where the road bends right.

The one I've used and recommend is Janya Tailor, last one on the left and she speaks excellent English.

You can get anything made down there and she'll take you to the shop and help you choose the cloth - prices are on the wall and no mark up.

They are part of the "charm" of Pattaya!

I get clothes made everytime - not full suits, but dress pants and dress shirts (which I have to wear everyday in my real life back home - I don't think anyone wants to have them to wear in Thailand - come on!).

I have gone to the same guy numerous times and always been quite happy with the quality and style. That said, it is annoying when the Bangladeshi (they are mostly from there, not India) guys do their thing. Living in China I am used to pushy people - so it doesn't bother me as much. At the end of the day, you can't let anyone get you mad - people do what they do and you are in Paradise.

I will check out Edge's suggestion this time - it sounds like a win win situation.

It's well worth a look.

There are 15-20 tailors down there and you may well find one better than the one I used as I just went in the first one I stopped at. She was very easy to deal with and helpful and the shorts are great.

I must go back and finish that thread.

A lot of them have work-in-progress you can check for quality of workmanship and the choice of cloth in the wholesale shop is extensive.

Cut out those damned middle men and save some dosh.

my personal opinion is that every good wardrobe needs a good suit or two but when I am in Thailand it's neither the time nor place to go suit hunting. And I will admit I have seen some very good suits on occasion but if the tailors would just understand that if I need a suit I WILL COME TO THEM AND BUY ONE then everything will be fine but that would be too perfect of a trip to Thailand (no aggressive Indian tailors asking to buy a suit or to just come inside and take my card or the Indian tailor death grip handshake) but hey I'm a dreamer

most of the guys on the streets are just piss takers now- do my skull in

I say to them I have now very good suit shorts and t shirt. Don't need anything else. They are funny people they can say few words most language and get very angry when you are not coming in to buy suit.

I've heard stories when Indian suit maker in Pattaya has make suit. He shows first fine expensive fabric and he has made suit another fabric which is not so good. Also you have to go many times to look if suit fits for you. I think where they get customers because they are scamming all the time.
