The shoutbox is a new thing amongst Pattaya forums, infact we are the only one at the moment with a shoutbox. One advantage of the shoutbox is to take general chit chat away from the board.

 

However after having used the shoutbox for a few weeks now, we have noticed one problem, is that it is tempting to ask and answer questions on in the shoutbox. We are trying to steer away from this now as we relise the information is wasted in the shoutbox rather than being available to the other 300 or so members to be recycled.

The shoutbox has a refresh rate of 120 seconds at the moment. We have had to do this because we keep getting our account suspended for taking up to much processing power. We have a dedicated server waiting, just gotta smooth the problems out first. Then we'll be back to a very fast refresh rate.

It seems to vary a bit sometimes happens real quick like

 

other times it takes 20 or 30 mins then dumps a whole bunch of shouts at one time.

 

But you probably knew this

Have you posted the guideline for shoutbox? I reckon you or Bryan should write the guideline stating that shoutbox is for one BM to another about personal or other bullshit that other BMs don't care much about. For example:

 

Sam: Hey Bass, what's up?

Bass: Not much, Sam and u?

Sam: SOS, same old shit but a different day.

Bass: Same here, dude. I can't believe how cold it has been here in SF.

Sam: Well, NY is like SF weather and SF is like NY weather. That mother nature has some sense of humor.

Bass: LOL

Di: Why do they call mother nature and father time? It's sexist is it not?

Sam: Hi Lady Di. Good to see you again.

Bass: Di, it's what it is. Women are like the weather and men are like the time. Women keeps changing their mind and very irrational without a single logic while men uses logic and have predictable behavior with one track mind like the time. Sex is on their mind...

Sam: I gotta go, Cya Lady Di and Bass..

What's your point Smullenpe?

 

All you've done is quote a bit of banter between a few BM's. I don't even know if it's verbatim because it's not kept anywhere. The shoutbox is for any converstaion. It's requested that it not be used for questioning in the sense that general questions should be posted in a thread so that our whole community can benefit from the answers provided.

 

Specific 1 to 1 questions are of course fine.

are you using safari or internet explorer? this is just a guess but you may need ie with java installed! :Dunno:

here's what i could find out about the shoutbox:

 

What browsers does the Shoutbox support?

The shoutbox currently supports Firefox 1.x-2.x, IE 6, IE 7, and Opera. (Others probably as well, havn't tested others)

 

so my guess is safari isn't supported yet! :Bow5:
