I can help you with that one mate.

Put the picture you want in a thread some where on the forum, this once the picture is displayed, right click it and in the menu options, 'copy link location' then open up your signature edit option and when you see your signature and the count down clock HTML text click on the last piece of text and hit return to create a line below it. Then click on the insert image button and in the box that appears paste the image location that you copied into it and bobs your uncle. Just remember to save your new signature

The combination of that and a clock adds fuel to the argument that signature size should be limited.

If everone put big pics there it would be a complete mess and starting a thread which explains to everyone how to do it will no doubt make it worse.

As you can see, I do put information and links there, but I don't see the point of pics and vdo there - for what?

It is a pain to open and scroll past and is why many BMs with slow connections switch off Signatures in their Settings. On my monitor, your signature takes up almost the whole screen.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but it would be better if you could align one left and one right - and yes, make it smaller.

Sorry, it wasn't meant to be nasty - just saying. :Sorry2:

Probably I should just switch them off again.

I only switched them back on when Kuffki's terrorist video stopped appearing all over the board.

The countdown clock is a must for me as it keeps me sane until my next trip but I am going to look for smaller CD clocks on the web.

I will let you all know if I find something

I've seen smaller and smaller would be better for the vast majority of BMs who don't read them anyway.

It would be better if they could be aligned to one side, with other stuff the other side, but I don't think you can.

Size of signature is regularly discussed and when I was modding there was one guy who'd added 3 Countdown Clocks, including one for a trip to Hawaii ffs. I tried to edit them so that at least 2 of them could be side by side, but I couldn't figure out how to so I just banned him - I'm joking!

The downside of BMs making big signatures is that those with slow connections and those who are just plain annoyed by them may switch them off and there is often some useful information there too.

There are indeed guidelines regarding signature size, and I would say that yours is too big at the moment. If they were aligned horizontally it'd be OK, otherwise I think either a photo or a countdown clock ought to be enough for one signature.

...

OK, I've edited your sig to put them next to each other - much better :)

Have you read the forum rules?

Please resize your photos!

Sitting here now in this bar for hours,

whilst strange men rent strange flowers,

I'll be picking up your petals in another few hours...

dont think so...

Unless its my browser it shows the clock in the centre and the bike underneath to the left, not level.

Strange, it reverted... done it again, OK now?

(The difficulty is with mixing HTML and bbtags, btw - need to convert the IMG to HTML and move inside the centre tags for the countdown clock)

Bare back tags?

Well done, but it looks as though it might be a bit too difficult for the average mortal

Now you've cracked that one, can you tell me why whatever I do my signature leaves off the last part of the text which appears it the box.

It has worked in the past, but not for about a week.

Serps has tried and failed so this is a real test.

Then again, when I asked him to get rid of the dot after my name he gave me one at the beginning as well :GoldenSmile1:

PS - Is it possible you could paste the text behind what you did here so that I might understand it.

If it defeated Serps I'm sure it's beyond me but I'll take a look later. For FTC's signature, something like:

Before (approx):

<center><embed src="http://www.countdownclockcodes.com/cd/ccc-christmas/show.swf?clickURL=http://www.countdownclockcodes.com/&clickLABEL=Countdown-Clocks&flashLABEL=CountdownClockCodes&skin=http://www.countdownclockcodes.com/cd/ccc-christmas/skins/19.jpg&text=How%20many%20ho%20ho%20ho%27s%0D%20can%20i%20fit%20in%20my%20sack%0D%20this%20trip%3F%0D&untilColor=16711680&textColor=255&datesColor=16724889&year=2010&month=11&day=24&hour=0&minute=0&second=2&x=-40&y=99" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="300" height="200" name="countdown" align="middle" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></center>

(there was also a <br> and a link to the countdown clocks website in there somewhere, which I just deleted - they would have messed up the alignment otherwise)

After (exact):

<center><embed src="http://www.countdownclockcodes.com/cd/ccc-christmas/show.swf?clickURL=http://www.countdownclockcodes.com/&clickLABEL=Countdown-Clocks&flashLABEL=CountdownClockCodes&skin=http://www.countdownclockcodes.com/cd/ccc-christmas/skins/19.jpg&text=How%20many%20ho%20ho%20ho%27s%0D%20can%20i%20fit%20in%20my%20sack%0D%20this%20trip%3F%0D&untilColor=16711680&textColor=255&datesColor=16724889&year=2010&month=11&day=24&hour=0&minute=0&second=2&x=-40&y=99" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="300" height="200" name="countdown" align="middle" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /><img src="http://media.pattaya-addicts.com/images/forum/uploads/monthly_12_2010/post-15988-0-67340600-1292041612.jpg"></img></center>

I tried a one liner clock but couldn't work out how to make it work, I agree with you in the respect of a smallish signature but i don't feel mine is too big?

The signature was pure code and didn't extract it's information from a website like the normal countdown clocks do.

Unfortunately i am not a programmer, I can work my way round a PC but programming is a whole different ball game so if any BM's has a solution I would be happy to try it, and promote it if needed.

Thanks guys

A good option is to use a spoiler...

insert signature here

That way people have the choice.
insert signature here
Or if you wanna be super cool lay your sig out in a HTML table. Make sure it doesn't mess with the forum/page formatting though.

Thanks for the tip matey!

Pictures in sigs can only be web based; not uploaded like profile pictures etc. This has been a real pain in the arse for me. Now I can replace my crappy youtube vid, but with what?
