Up to 2 years old in good condition and with reasonable mileage and preferably GREEN

This one would have done nicely.

I am making enquiries now, I'd like to get one for the GF too.

Surely she'll need something with a sidecar to take the German Shepherd out? :Fuck_Dog:

I haven't actually worked out what the difference is between a DTracker and a KLX, apart from wheels and stickers.

The one in the pic was advertised and sold as a DTracker, but no DTracker stickers.

Does anyone know, or could I buy a KLX and change the wheels - easier to find Green that way.

You hit the nail on the head there is no difference, apart from those mentioned!!

Damn it. I just heard that a guy I knew bought a KLX 6 months ago for 160k (152?) didn't use it and sold it last month for 120k with 15** kms on the clock.

Oh well, it does mean I could consider a KLX and just buy some trick wheels plus tyres.

Opens it up a bit and I think they're all Green.

KLX is supposed to be for offroad, hence 19" front wheel and nobbly tyres. Gearing might be slightly lower and suspension softer. D-Tracker is more road biased.

D-Tracker originally came in Black or Orange, D-Trackers you see in Green have KLX panels. I believe you can get all the replacement plastics for approx 4/5000bht, so changing to Green is no great expense.

To buy new 17" wheels would be far more expensive.

I know the different intended uses, my friends used to spend a fortune turning Yamaha Super Ten XTZ 750s into Super Motards.

I had 3 S10s but never got round to modding them.

I agree trick wheels can be expensive, but rims and spokes are not. If I stuck with spoked wheels it's just the new tyres really. Even if I bought a new DT I'd probably want to put fatter rubber on it at some stage.

I don't know, but I'd bet a few Baht that the gearing and suspension are identical.

AFAIK they both need de-restricting as there's an electrical rev limiter on 4th, 5th & 6th gears.

I hadn't got round to thinking about changing the plastic as an option, though I saw some sets for sale.

I just find the black so boring and I really don't like the Orange (or Yellow?).

All Kawasakis should be Green IMO,

except the 1994 ZZR1100 in Candy SunGod Orange & Violet.

There's a 125cc version of both the d-tracker and the moto, came out a few months back, if you're just looking for summat kool for around town.

From memory, sells for about 80k.

I know it well, Mr Dom just bought one about 6 weeks ago.

He said he bought that one because he's not that experienced, but I've seen him looking misty eyed at the 250s already.

They're OK for around town and off road no doubt, but I want something that can eat the miles up as well.

I've done Phnom Penh and back on my Yamaha X1R 135 cc and I don't think the 125 cc DT would live with that, so it would be a step backwards for me.

Thanks anyway.

And i don't blame him, the 250cc is gutless enough!! Try to look out for a real supermoto, with a green book.

You're right I know, but I have very little self control when it comes to twisting the throttle and riding around in flip flops and shorts I really don't want anything that will do more than 150 kph.

I also want something that will go between the cars as well as the scoot does.

Have you ridden a de-restricted DT. It's still only a 250 of course, but it's a different bike to the standard restricted one by all accounts.

Kenot has one at Quicky Bar.

No to be honest i haven't, but i did have a normal one for a few days before i bought the suzuki drz 400sm!! And i think you right if it was de-restricted it would be a better bike around town! The drz was a bit heavy and run way to hot in traffic.DT X.jpg The 2011 Dtx...

she can have mine KLX 125 600KM on clock as i may just be tempted to go for the 250 which i have seen! be quick as i would now need to bring this bike back from Buriram! still on red plate but green book should be in shop once i return!

....................

Why did you have to start this thread " YOU MINGE TEASIN BASTARD YA" got me thinking now! GoldenSmile1.gif

:Grin_Jump1: :Grin_Jump1: You weren't supposed to be looking.

How many tons of rice would it take to chop it in lol.

You'd have to ride it back up there of course, but it would make a better tool for nipping up and down as required - for business reasons obviously. :GoldenSmile1:

The one in the shop is nice, but seems a bit pricey at 120k for 2 years old,

especially when I missed the one in the OP, which was about 1 year old and went for 99k. :Cry3: :Cry3: :Cry3:

It will probably take to water better than a Canon S90 that's for sure.

Thanks for the reminder. I just picked up the 2 drowned ones from the repair shop.

They couldn't make one good one out of them so I've just got a lorra lorra spare parts and 3 batteries and chargers - need ebay.th

It's ferkin GREEN !!!!

That's probably swung it in favour of a new one then. I did ask about 2011 colours but they not know.

Where did you find that pic?

The Suzuki is a good bike I know and there are good Hondas too, but the Kawasaki presence in Thailand makes them favourite.

The idea of a new one with warranty and full insurance is appealing too.

Viriya said they won't insure any bike over 2 yo.

My KLX was 82,000 on road 600km on clock make me an offer then i can go buy 250 Tracker second hand that's if it is still in shop and pimped up to the max i will be able to get away with noisy exhaust up here as i have yet to see a copper! GoldenSmile1.gif

So what will you do with the old bike MIck? still keep it or get rid?

I had her fire both of them up and the Green one is pretty quiet compared with the black one.

I wonder if there's a record for how many bikes you can P/X before you get a white plate on them. :Grin_Jump1:

It might depend how much they'd give me for the X1R. I need to get the scratched panel tidied up before I ask (maybe the guy at S'ville can do).

My inclination is to keep it. I like it a lot and as long as I'm going into town 8 nights a week I'd rather be leaving that parked round the back of WS than a sparkling new DTX - what does the X mean, owt different?

The ride home might be a bit too excighting as well.

Thanks Mike, but as the name implies, they specialise in the big MFs.

One of those in Thailand would surely see me off.

Are you trying to tell me something? :Circle_Sharks:

  • 2 weeks later...

Mityon big bike have a 2nd hand D-Tracker in green for B120,000 with an after-market exhaust, I guess this may be the one you have already seen. They also have one in the new 2011 colours of dark red, black and white.

Have you considered the new Honda CBR250R? It should be hitting the showrooms anytime now. Brand new single cylinder 26bhp 250 for around B100,000. That makes it more powerful and much cheaper than the D-Tracker.

Yes that's the one we saw = too expensive for 2 yo.

I definitely don't want a CBR or any sports bike thanks, though the price does sound good.

If I'd sold the house there would have been a D-Tracker under my Kissmas Tree, if I had one and subject to it being GREEN - the bike - and the tree..

Plan B involves waiting until about April, when green ones should abound.

I need to seed some money having killed my visa extension.

I have one I have had it 2 years IMO its a great bike stops good pot holes no problem in the floods never stopped (high exhaust) i. It will get a little hot in slow moving traffic as it's air/water cooled however it has never misfired I am 127 kg wife 44kg it is not modified but still has the power to move you out of trouble ( I was riding a R1200GS BMW in the UK) not in the same class but I am happy with it here Do not feel the need to go faster than 30mph but happy to have a little more if needed.

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

Due to low numbers of people in town, I will start the meetings in our bars to help our girls and managers, please check back often incase things are changed.  I will be sharing the love around town later, but Soi 6 is first on my list (including bars that are friendly competition)
If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
Monday 6 pm - 8pm  (then bar crawl after)
      21st March - Playpen Soi 6
28th March - Night wish bar Soi 6

      11th April - Repent Soi 6
18th April - where angels play Soi 6
