Soi 6 open after 1am WOO HOO

Soi 6 is excluded they have a special 1 am cut off.

The reason why some of the others Soi 6 bars are open late (passion and wantida) is because they have different entertainment licenses, as they are gogos! So its going to still be 1 am I am afraid.

Hi to all. This thread came as a bit of a surprise to me as I wasn't aware there were any regulations on working hours. The proposed closing time of 4:30 seems like nothing more than a formality when you consider the number of venues that are open till the early, or should I say late, hours of the morning on any given day. I always thought that each bar decided their working hours and the closing time was governed by the amount of customers. The existing rules are obviously not followed or their enforcement is quite selective from one bar to another. 24 hour opening times seem fitting for the entertainment zone IMHO

The downside (if there is one) is missing the mass exodus of all the girls going out onto the street. Fun to watch the flood of girls back in their regular clothes heading out to eat, disco, and free lance. Back a couple of years ago that was the thing to do at 2am. Usually picked up a hottie right off the door step.

Thanks for the update LaaMok. Well, there are times I would like to stay out and party and times I get the TG(s) out of the bar a little early. Some places have a tier system on the BF's (later means less baht for the BF) and I can see where some places will extend the time. So for those who want to take off with the TG it may cost you more for the BF to leave at the time you use to.

We will have to wait and see how the different bars handle the extended hours.

Double your pleasure! Double your fun!

Do two TG's instead of just one.

Pattaya has got it good unlike Udon Thani.<div><br></div><div>The new Governor for Udon Thani has just ordered the police to enforce his interpretation of the selling of alcohol laws. From what I have heard no bars are allowed to serve alcohol between 2pm and 5pm unless it is served with food. The bars are being fined 2000 baht by the police so it is being enforced.</div><div><br></div><div>The permitted times for selling alcohol are 11.00 - 14.00 and 17.00 - 24.00 any bars selling outside of those hours are being fined 2000 baht. In Pattaya most of the major supermarkets and some 7-11's will not sell alcohol outside those times but it has never affected the bars.</div><div><br></div><div>The new Governor for Udon has interpreted it to mean all sales of alcohol anywhere, whether he is right or not I do not know though I am at a loss to explain why restaurants serving food should be exempt (unless he owns a few restaurants) <img src="http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/Whistle.gif" alt="" class="bbc_emoticon"></div><div><br></div><div>Lets hope he doesn't become mayor of Pattaya. He is originally from Chonburi.</div><div><br></div><div>Al</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

>> The permitted times for selling alcohol are 11.00 - 14.00 and 17.00 - 24.00 <<

Is there some kind of logic (thai or otherwise) for those hours.

I can understand why someone would set a cutoff at midnight ... but the gap between 14:00 and 17:00 eludes me unless they are trying to avoid drunks on the road doing the times that schools let out.

We had similar laws in the UK before. They originated in WW1 and were designed to ensure maximum productivity in the munitions factorys.

From Wiki

"After the outbreak of World War I, the Defence of the Realm Act was passed by Parliament, which restricted opening hours for licensed premises to 12:00 to 14:40 and 18:30 to 21:30"

These laws were only recently changed (2005) though they were extended to 11pm in the 60's I think and the afternoon closing period wasn't lifted until 1988.
