If you plan to stay a while then a basic unfurnished room can be had for around 2500 inclusive of basic package cable TV, water and electric (no air-con & no hot water) can be had for around 2500 baht a month.

Eating Thai food bought from stalls and only drinking water you can manage on 100 baht a day comfortably.

That's you basics covered for 5500 baht a month or 5 USD a day.

One off costs for room for bed; TV and fridge will be around 15k baht if buying new, so if this is fully depreciated over 3 months, then that's another 5 USD a day.

So 10 bucks a day is 'doable' to live.

No hot water - you gotta be joking?

I can live in an unfurnished room with one chair and table and sleep on a matress - but I've gotta have a hot shower.

Agreed, i need my hot water as i cant stand trying to shower in freezing cold. Air con i can struggle by without though i would rather not. Everything else i dont care less about, even though if i was staying in pattaya i would be on a higher budgit. Though next long stay in Pattaya i will try not to spend as much money as last time....

I would say that is a very tight budget to live on unless you are prepared to live in a rural part of Issan or somewhere similar. If so expect to find nothing to do after it gets dark as these places do not have bars etc.

I work here Monday to Friday and spend very little money during the week but my weekend spending jumps up with trips into Pattaya, and a game of golf every Sunday.

I do think that the magic of Thailand would soon wear thin if you had to scrape by on what is effectively 350 baht per day.

Out of interest, why does the budget have to be so low?

The most places without hot water have a big watertank on the roof, so the water is really not that cold.

no expense money alloted for BGs?

No, this thread appears solely about being a wanker in Thailand on the lowest possible budget imaginable. Wanking in Thailand is absolutely free as long as you do it in the privacy of your cheap room. :LMAO1:

This is funny. Being broke in Thailand is just like anywhere else. Lonely and desperate.

I could stay in the States and do this.

All the best,

id imagine it must be the nearest thing to hell being skint in pattaya!

However on my 4 trips ive overbudgetted each time, planned on 10,000 baht per day but have had

great time on 6-7000 per day and sometimes a bit less depending on the quality of the lady!

You could do it but why would you want to?. cant think of a worse place to be without money, this is why guys jump off balconeys I reckon. I average around 2200-2400 baht a day, but I am here long term, have motorbike cheap accomm and dont drink a lot. The women get most of my baht!!!

At the moment i have a girlfriend, i am spending less than 1000 baht/day..this is just going on food and any thing i buy during day dvd etc.

For long term stayers 2500 baht/day is a good figure, 1000 baht on freelancer and the rest just on food/drink..when staying months on end most cannot be throwing around 5k+ each day but you can soon train yourself into spending a more realisic budget...

You must must TRIM your budget in Pattaya.. Plan your future in pension then you will live like a king in pattaya with your cost cutting plan back home outside Thailand, Trim your farang spendings. Cut the losses and pay her off and divorce her then your heaven is waiting for you in PATTAYA.

I guess I might be under-budgeting. After reading this thread I was under the impression that a Cheap Charlie like me would be able to get by on about 4,500 - 6,000 a day INCLUDING the hotel. Guess I'll have to adjust to more like 8,000 - 10,000.

I do have a question that is directly related to budget. This will be my first trip to LOS and a friend of mine who has about 10 trips under his belt said it should be easy for me to negotiate or even pick up locals. I'm 26, 6'4, average weight, polite and relatively attractive. Does this have as big of a factor as he seems to make it out to be? I know that some BG's will be more inclined to go home with me if I put on a smile and am polite. But do you think they'll really be inclined to lower the price because of my budget? Also, from what he's mentioned civilians tend to try to soak up too much time and I'm not sure I'd like that. With a 2 week limit I'd like to get in as much of the sights as I can.

no matter how many people you ask, you will never get an answer for yourself, as everybody is different.

I dont see how you can eat for 100 baht, water x 5 35 baht x market noodles or rice dish x 4 40 baht

Thats 195 in food, the small dishes they eat wont fill a farang unless he weighs 8 stone max. I weigh 16 stone so cant live on their portions, also how can he travekl about. Does he ever need medicen what about phoning home ?

Iwould say 350 a day is min for food and drink and small travel, he should rob a bank if he gets away with it fin if not he is in the same situation.

living on £150 a week,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, is that living ir slow death..

Fuck that give me the sky dive

budgeting in pattaya would be hard i think, too many temptations. The longest I have stayed was a month but I just lived like a pauper here in wales for the 3months leading up to it!!

I wouldnt fancy trying to do it really cheap out there but as others are saying here it can be done!

Yeah, I'd have trouble on 100 Baht/day also. But there are the food stalls where you get a dish for 25-30 Baht and they have bottled water on the table for you for free. They bring you the little tin cup of ice for it. You're still only talking about three-four relatively small servings so it would still be hard even though not everybody eats as much as I do. I could manage on 150-200 Baht if I really had to. Not a great existence though.
