Ko Tao Resort pictures report

Recommended Posts

The Ko Tao Resort is at the far south of the island, on Chalook Baan Kao Beach (10 minutes from Mae Haad's pier, by taxi). It is divided in 2 parts :

- the Beach Zone, close to the....wait for it...beach

- the Paradise Zone, at the top of a hill

Each part has its own restaurant.

In October 2009, I spent 5 nights at the Paradise Zone.

It takes 5 minutes to climb from the beach to the Paradise Zone, but the slope is very steep!

There is a shuttle several times a day, but never when you need it.

This resort is 2 years old now.

My room was very large, with one Queen size and one individual bed. Everything was brand new, very clean as well.

Room had a balcony, with a nice view, and a bathtub on it.

Weather wasn't very nice (often cloudy, sometimes rainy), but having a bath on the balcony while it was raining was a pure pleasure!

Breakfast was so so, but the view was so beautiful!! (see picture)

The Paradise Zone was quite empty, the staff seemed bored, so always willing to help! And very sweet as well.

Both part has a swimming pool.

There is a dive center at the Beach Zone (Samui Diving Service).

Nothing to do there at night, though!

You need a taxi to go to Mae Haad or Sairee.

I recommend it if you need some days of complete farniente.

Don't hesitate if you have questions.

(the 2 panoramic pictures were made with the Photomerge Photoshop's tool, so they may seem weird)

Cheers.

Thanks for this point, I'm becoming green, finally!

how did you get there and how much was your travel expenses to and from samui?

I took the Lomprayah Ferry from Samui, less than 2 hours, 600THB (with hotel pick-up).

Timetable and rates available here : http://www.lomprayah.com/E/route.htm

This time I was coming from Singapore, but if you come from Pattaya (U-Tapao airport), you will be forced to

spend one night in Samui (plane lands after ferry last departure).

Another option is to take an early plane from Bangkok, and catch the ferry from 12:30.

Or you can also :

- take the Lomprayah (bus+ferry) directly from Bangkok (veeeery long bus ride, though)

or

- from Pattaya, try this new line http://www.thailivingferry.com to Hua Hin (1200THB, a bit more than 3 hours),

then Lomprayah bus to Chumporn, and ferry to Ko Tao (also long night bus ride)

Since I have never been to Hua Hin, I will try this year the Pattaya-->Hua Hin ferry, stay a night or to in Hua

Hin, and then take the bus+ferry to Tao. And Tao-->Samui-->U-Tapao for the return.

and how much was the hotel per night?

My room was one of this type : http://www.kotaoreso...se_seaview.html

It was still low season, and they had an "opening promotion" rate. It was 2400THB. It's much more expensive now.

If you are travelling solo, perhaps better to stay at Mae Haad or Sairee Beach, where you can find civilization..

Otherwise, Ko Tao Resort can be a nice place for you and your lady.
