Nova Gold Hotel

Nova gold was a great hotel, my only complaint is you have to pay 500 baht if you want to bring in a second girl

Now that is a little bit poor.

That said as a rule I do not sleep with 2 girls that often.

When I was a young man I used to take 2 & 3 girls back to my room most nights but them days are long gone most of the time.

500 baht for the 2nd girl! While I don't plan on doing this more than once, that still kind of sucks. Although, I'm sure theres ways around that. At least the 1st girl is free! Does Nova Gold hold their ID's??

Want to bump this thread. A recommendation from another monger lead me to this hotel (the naughty-boy pool is well known; gotta love pools).

I know it's like a few minutes from Soi 6, but is it much of a walk to Soi's LK Metro or Buakhao? Also, *what* kind of walk is it - no worries if I stagger back with a bird? I'm not the taxi bike type...

Ya it is a bit of a walk, especially for a Thai girl. You can walk to 2nd road from LK or Buakhao and take a baht bus to Soi 6, if you prefer not to take a moto taxi.

Hmm...sounds like getting back home's not as bad at all. Only have to run the Soi 6 gauntlet to get to beach road and downtown..

Nova Gold offers (IMHO) the best value for money in Patters. I have stayed there on several occassions, beautiful 4 star looms, at 3 star prices. Friendly staff, free buggy cart totake u to second road, computer in loom. Jameson's pub grub is excellent and there is a terrific little cafe run by a Thai family directly opposite. The only downside for me is that the pool is in the shade 24/7...no good if you want to be "the man with the tan".

Just to add the location thing can be a bit of an issue for some. On the plus side, its near the 6 and quite close to the much underated Drinking street...on the down side it is a bit of a schlepp to LK. Final point, Thai ladies are not known for staggering anywhere, they usually hate to walk...why not jump on a taxi bike 50 Bhat for you and your girl - result!

I was there last year in December. It is NOT a few min walk to 2nd road. You need to walk at least ~10 minutes to get to the cheap baht bus. Sure they offer free carts to 2nd Road, but it is a bit inconvenient having to coordinate the ride there if it gets too busy. Also, coming back is a headache too as you will have to call hotel and wait for them. Once you are on 2nd Road, it will take you another ~10 minutes to walk to Soi 6. And if you want to goto WS, need to take a LONG way around baht bus or walk 30 minutes or take a taxi-bike for 50-100 baht.

I remember partying at night till 2-3 am. Taxis all wanted minimum of 100 baht to take me back. I can easily 200-400 baht a day just on back/forth. Its no doubt a nice hotel, BUT, not for the location. I rather stay at somewhere closer to 2nd/Beach Rd and pay a bit extra - well worth the time saved and even comes out cheaper in the end if you don't like taking buses or walk.

To be precise ... you can check distance on a Google Map with many sites such as http://www.daftlogic...-calculator.htm

From Nova Gold to Second road distance is nearly 450 meters. Let's say max.10 minutes walk because of the heat...

From there to Soi 6, it is about 50 meters. Less than 2 minutes (got to cross the road and it is a different heat going into the 6).

I did stay Nova Gold last July and I found it a nice place; of course if do not want to walk much it is not your kind of place. But it is a quiet hotel with nice large rooms without any issue of bring back girls.

The road is windy and if are drunk you can even get lost. It does take at least ten minutes and that was during cooler season. Sure you can walk fast and make it at to 2nd Road in 8 minutes, but you'll be sweating like a pig. You maybe right about Soi 6 being few min walk to 2nd Road, but I sure did not miscalculate Nova Gold to 2nd Road [soi 6 side]. Because I walked at least 6 times whenever I can't get the hotel golf-cart. And I remember always taking 10 minutes - and really boring too as there are nothing remotely interesting near this hotel. At least if you pick a more convenient place, there is much more festivity, restaurants, massage parlors and girls to gawk at. For those just wanting to relax in a quiet place, don't go out much or take taxi's - I still think there are better choices.

i would say its less than 10 mins to 2nd road then maybe 20 mins down Soi 6 to beach rd [you could do the Soi 6 bit in about 5 mins if it wasnt for the views] but i cant understand people moaning about having to walk for 10 mins , last year we daily walked from nova to beach road then up to royal garden plaza its a nice pleasant stroll, do you moan if your bf wants more than 10 minutes of sex

i stayed here about 2 years ago and although a little out of the way found the price excellent. the nova group has a few hotels in this area.

the small restaurant across the road to the left has great food the pub also has good food..

would i stay hear again? for sure i would, but i like to change hotels to try new ones.

Im a fat lazy bloke and the walk to second street or pattaya klang didn't bother me at all...

I normally stay in At Mind residence, but when I wanted to book a room there, they were fulled, so I go to Nova Gold which is in the same area.

As other members says, I can confirm that Nova gold is a good value for the money (I pay 35 €/day, approximatly 1 400 bath a day, in the end of october 2012, via Agoda).

The superior room isn't very big (near 20 m2) but perfectly equipped with a computer in running condition which I have never seen anywhere else. The staff was efficient. No joiner fee, they check the lady identity and they call you when your guest leave the room in order to know if everything is OK (I don't bring more than one lady).

Yes, the hotel is a little far from Walking Street, if I don't want to walk to beach road (a little 15 minutes walk), I take the risk to take a motor bike taxi : I give them 60 baths for one people or 120 baths for two peoples.

Here are a few pictures.
