Last trip, we only went to tesco to buy food, nice supermarket

The by far cheapest supermarket is certainly Makro on Sukhumvit in Jomtien, that's a brand of a large German chain. Metro(?) Even the monger can go shopping there, a big Tube of KY is 74 Baht (105 Baht in 7/11), condoms as little as 20 Baht for three. Bring bags, unlike the other supermarkets Makro doesn't bag your shopping. It's the choice of businesses in and around Pattaya.

Makro's origin is Holland . The ones in Europe are sold to Metro group in Germany in 1998 but the Asian and South American

ones are still from the original Dutch owner .

 

Very good prices for good quality groceries and everything else you can think of .

Gets more busy every day it seems .

Makro - Do you need to be a trade member to shop there, or can anyone just turn up?

They ask for a card at the counter, if you have none you go to the reception and get a piece of paper that's scanned back at the counter. Best is to ask to issue a card the first time you go there, that takes just a couple of minutes.
