PreTrip Work Out Report

Recommended Posts

Posted

Greetings to all. Since early October, when I first decided to go to Pattaya again, I decided to get into "peak" shape. Managed to loose about 15 pounds but still have a ways to go. Yesterday, I finally bought my ticket. Flying out December 3 out of Las Vegas via LAX then nonstop on Royal Thai from there. Five weeks into my routine, and with 2 1/2 weeks to go, here is my "workout and how to improve libido" report. FYI, I'm 42.

Diet: Tried a bunch of different things. I gave up on the hcg diet and just tried to eat less over all. What I found effective was the following.

1) Every time you have the urge to eat more, try to resist. You may fail some of the time, but you will succeed other times. I succeeded about half the time. Better than nothing, I guess.

2) Eat lots of carrots/celery/broccoli etc, before each meal. You will find your appetite is a bit less.

3) Lots of water with lemon juice. Seems to be a natural appetite suppressant.

4) Some other ideas are alternate days of very low cal and normal cal. Seems to work ok.

5) Try to get plenty of protein.

Exercise routine: I cut back a bit on weight lifting, which I've done off and on for years and tend to like, and added a lot more Cardio/Conditioning.

1) Kettle bells. Check them out on youtube. Basically, it's a cannon ball with a large handle and you swing it around for ballistic movements. I found it **very** effective for both strength, endurance and also core body strength. It's also great for hamstrings, quads and glutes. It is essential to use proper form, or could cause some lower back problems. With proper form, I think the core strength development will actually make you less vulnerable to back injuries in the long run.

2) "Insanity" workout DVD. Its a HIIT (high intensity interval training) style aerobic workout that relies on track and field style exercises. Basically, you go all out for two minutes, rest for thirty seconds and start again. It's pricey, but very well produced and motivational. It's intended to be done over two months, but I only started 3 days ago. Seems effective so far.

3) Lifted weights twice a week. Full upper body workout each time, no split routines. I get plenty of lower body work from kettle bells. That's less than I usually do but my strength has actually been improving faster than ever. More on that later.

Supplements and meds:

For improving libido I tried Tribulous, folic acid, zinc/copper, ginseng, multi-vitamins, tongkat ali, etc. Not sure any of that made much difference, and I've been taking them for close to a month now. Also, started taking clomiphene about 10 days ago, as it supposedly increases testosterone levels. Didn't have any noticeable affect on libido, (It might have actually reduced it) but I think it had a very positive effect on my weight lifting, as I feel much stronger at the gym. Don't know if that's psychological or real.

Results: Well, lost about 15 pounds. I would need to loose another twenty to be truly trim and thirty if I actually want those 6 pack abs. In the next 2 1/2 weeks, I'd be lucky to lose another 5-7 pounds. But I do feel my endurance is way better than before and I seem to have more energy during the day.

Any advice on what to do until D-Day for further weight loss/strength gains/libido improvement would be appreciated.

Also, I've been reading a bit about clenbuterol, which I think would help get rid of the rest of the weight. Any info on where to get it in Thailand? I don't think I'll find it at home before I go. I probably wont take it while I'm there but will start it when I get back home. For libido boosting, I was thinking of trying test propionate and cypionate in low doses, per Roidfreak's advice on another thread. Can anyone recommend a reputable clinic in Pattaya?

Thanks to all and sundry. Counting the days till the 3rd. :Party1::Party3:

It all depends on what you are willing to do. Realistically you cannot make a huge difference in 2 1/2 weeks. Just aim to be in fantastic shape for your next trip.

If I had 2 1/2 weeks to lean up as much as possible I'd do something like Lyle Mcdonald's rapid fat loss. Its a brutal diet but one can lose 20lbs in 2 weeks (upto 7lbs of actual fat the rest is water/glycogen depletion).

Its basic outline is lots of protein, almost no carbs and and a very small amount of fat from fish oil. Basically you can eat lean chicken breast, egg whites, fibrous veg like broccoli and some fish oil capsules. That is all. It works (I have done it) but you will feel hellish and ending the diet just before a holiday when you will no doubt eat a lot is a bad idea IMO.

I say just keep up the exercise, eat sensibly and enjoy your holiday. Physique transformations take months and years of dedication. If you really want to drop those 30lbs, aim to have it done by next year's holiday instead.

Thanks Massive. For the next 20 days I'll just try to increase the workouts a bit and try to cut out all junk food completely instead of partially.

Now if instead of 2 and a half weeks, you had 6 months (about when the next trip will be with any luck) what kind of plan would you use? Any particular supplement or medicine? Not trying to be a competitive athlete. Just be in max condition.

Not a problem, glad to help someone who wants to better their physical self. Its good that you are prepared to think months down the line instead of quick fixes.

A successful body transformation requires discipline, patience, consistency and hard work. You can make a huge difference to your physique in 6 months if you have the necessary work ethic and don't make excuses like work, lack of time etc. It does NOT take more time to get in shape. Plenty of blokes get in cracking shape whilst juggling family/work etc.

Getting your diet on point is the most important thing. I will discuss my personal approach to this in more detail by e-mail if you wish. I have experimented with a host of different dietary approaches to both building muscle and getting lean and would say I am relatively knowledgeable.

Of secondary importance to a good physique is a solid weight training routine. I don't care what anyone says, you cannot build an impressive physique without weights.

Contrary to conventional wisdom cardio/conditioning is a distant third to diet and weights in terms of a successful physical transformation. I have found simply walking briskly for at least 30mins/day to be a good fat loss tool. That is opposed to the idea that you need to go running all the time.

Telling you all I want to cannot be done in a single forum post. So if you are serious send me a private message (I'm assuming this forum has that facility) with your e-mail and I'll get in touch with more in depth help if you wish.

Cheers.

Good work.

I also made a lifestyle change because I decided I'm gonna hit 40 in the best shape of my life.

I've dropped about 40 kg (about 100 pounds), I run 5km 3 times a week, do weight circuit 3 times a week (just started this) and cycle to and from work each weekday.

I'm already stronger and faster than I was at 25 when I played Rugby League football and intend to lose another 18kg (I started off a REAL fat bastard) and do more cardio in the gym.

For anyone that wants to do the same - get off your fat lazy arse and fucking do something about it - harsh, yes, but it's what you need to be told. Everything in life is better, I wake up on top of the world, I am buzzing with endorphins a lot of the day and as for sex, say goodbye to regularly popping penis pills - I can go like a fucking teenager again.

And yes, a TG will put up with your fat flabby gut and call you 'sexy man', but in your heart you know what she's thinking.

Thanks for all advice and info. Massive, I sent you a pm. Thanks a lot as I always appreciate advice.

Singlemalt, that's a very inspirational and motivating story. :Bow5: Your last statement is painfully true. However, if you do the hard work to get a solid physique, then she would merely be stating the obvious. I have no doubt being in top shape gives you the confidence, as well as appearance, that makes you attractive to both Thai and western women. Not to mention your own good health.

Well, gotta go workout :Dehydrated:
