Pattaya Accommodation Rates - Xmas / New Year 2010/11

I’ve been reading the Pattaya forums looking for information on Pattaya accommodation rates during Xmas / New Year.

The impression I’m getting is that due to the difficult financial climate that travellers are experiencing, pattaya may not be as bustling as previous years and hoteliers are similarly experiencing lower occupancy levels and accordingly, reducing room rates.

I’m thinking 1200bht per night for hotels between Soi 1 – 4 north beach road to second road. Or should 5 people take a chance and turn up on the day and barter (arriving on 24 Dec).

Any advice would be appreciated

Think that's taking a bit of a chance at that time - peak, peak period!

Maybe book somewhere for a couple of days and look around once you're there (if you're not their too long, less of a problem I think). Sois 1-4 seem generally quieter than some other areas. Don't know why, it's a great area with loads of bars/soapies etc.

Thai logic seems to be if it's slack put prices up so you don't lose money!

May see you all out there!

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

I agree. Book a few days just to be safe. Gives you more time to look around.

Farang = Walking ATM. TG's push the right buttons and money comes out. PIN = BBBJ

The consensus seems to be book in advance. After all, 5 jocks trawling Pattaya after a long flight & tanked up looking for digs might give hoteliers the wrong impression.

Thanks for the feedback and we’ll take your advice and book in advance to secure accommodation.

If you know of any decent digs, that would be much appreciated.

Book a couple of days at least.... you could get away with just landing here today but the place is just starting to come back to life I wouldnt be taking a chance in December ...I'm staying at the Ibis... thats about that price range ..Northern end of Pattaya ..neat/tidy ( barfined a cute service girl from on of the bars made a bit of a mess turns out she was a virgin... she tells me after the fact.. opps... cleaners took care of sheets and mattress without batting an eyelid ) .. check tripadvisor for reviews ..5 min ride on Baht bus to Walking Street ...dont mind it at all ...would be good for a couple for days while you look around and get your bearings
