  • 1 month later...

Hey here's a tip in getting cheap ass flights....

My mom runs a travel agency here in the USA(For business and commercialized travel-large account..not personal)and this is what i know, from hanging around her office over the years. Most of the time...for oversees destinations...try to book via a consolidator travel ageant. Most of these guys can get you cheap tickets NET 3 months in advance....sometimes..even the last min ticket buying can be cheap. Also im sure you guys know this...but try to travel between Tues-Thurs...not on the weekends. Buy a ticket from an Ageant..you will save close to $300usd on a regular airline fare. I book via a consolidator lastr year...and my X-mas in AC, was only $700usd from Seattle(normally $1300). So search online for a travel agent...they by far are going to be alot more cheaper than your online sites....Priceline, cheaptickets, expedia, and orbitz...book regular airline tickets...not airline wholesale tickets..this is where the travel ageants come into play. Just for info...for those that weren't aware!!

Wholesale tickets...are those tickets that the airlines give to consolidators..and certain percentage forecast for projected flights. The airlines..lose a ton of money for empty seats, so thats why its cheap to buy from a consolidator. During the holiday season...it will be hard to find wholesale tickets.

Better to get a cheapo flight over to Heathrow (my mate got one for £3).

I always use Travelsupermarket. They cover most of the major agencies like Southall, Opodo, Netflights etc, as well as the airlines.

The cheapest January flight is £474 with Air India, but I'd pay £505 & go with Jet Airways. Don't confuse them, as by recent accounts, Air India are shit!

Agreed but make sure that you leave plenty of time to account for any delays.

Another good site is www.kayak.co.uk
