Secrets Hotel and Tim's Boutique

Hi All,

This will be my first trip to SEA and I am so excited about Pattaya. I'll be staying at Secrets hotel for the first few days then move on to Tim's Boutique. I will write review on both when I get back.

I wanted to check out some of the other hotels while I'm there to do some scouting for next time. I was thinking about LK Renaissance and maybe some condo's/private apartments.

Any suggestions of hotels/condos to check out? These are my criteria: Wireless internet, shower, comfortable bed, relatively quiet, close to action (either Walking Street or LK Metro) or near baht bus stops, nicer room/amenities. I like staying at Hiltons, Hyatt's and sometimes Holiday Inn's, depends. I chose Secrets because it's close to the action and easiest for a Noobie. Price range can be between 1500-2500 baht, of course lower would be better.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions

Did you check with BM Dancewatcher? http://dancewatchers.com (Haven't stayed there myself, but a buddy has and I'd take his work on anything Pattaya.)

...or Residence Garden owner Ib also owns a few condos in Jomtien? http://www.theresidencesuites.com/ (I've stayed at one of these units and I did a brief write up previously.)

As for agencies, BlueVision has some nice looking units (can't vouch for as I've never used). http://www.bluevisionagency.com/

There are a ton of others so just check around on the various sites. You can also check out places when you're on the ground so you can figure out the area you might like best.

Since you'll stay at Secrets, you can check the Grand hotel (last 2 floors only). Make a search, there are several posts about it on this forum.

It's on your right, going from Secrets to Walking Street. Can't be any closer from Walking Street, pretty quiet, though.

By the way, I read yesterday that Tim's is probably not a good idea this year, since there are renovations next to the hotel.

When I was in Tim, a few weeks ago, the building work wasn't a problem. They are putting up a new building next door - presumably as an extension. This doesn't affect the current horel, though. I guess some rooms could be noisy, but mine was fine - just try to get a room away from the building works side if you are a light sleeper.

Secrets is a great budget place, with helpful staff in a great location. It is misleading to call it a hotel, though. It is a guesthouse over a bar, with perfectly clean, but very basic, rooms. I personally prefer a bit of luxury, but Secrets is good value.

Thanks for this information, I'll keep it on my short list, then.

I also agreed with that - stayed recently in a room facing front and it didn't bother me a bit, though Im a light sleeper. Even had an almost continuous 30 minute laugh watching them getting a cement mixer lorry in one day from the standing room only balcony! Nice place to stay - I booked a jacuzzi suite, which while nice is pointless if you don't actually use the jacuzzi!

Staff were great, Reception always smiling and joking (little bit slow sometimes but what's the rush), and I saw some obvious bar girls with customers get very nice welcomes. Room cleaning leaves you alone until you're ready which is a particular thing I have about hotels. And after checkout, the cleaner chased out of the door after me waving my phone charger. Couldn't ask for more; there are cheaper places but I was comfortable...

I would definitely recommend checking out LK Renaissance. I stayed in a 1 BR suite, but it had this weird "closet" area that was oversized, and frankly wasted space. Also, pool area was extremely small. Overall I was happy, thanks to my guest, but probably could have got a better deal by staying in a smaller room. Also, breakfast wasn't very good. Fried eggs....not quite! However, proximity to luxury mall was a plus for this newbie.
