With some luck I will be able to catch the last Bell bus, but if not I must get a taxi. Can I just get any taxi at the airport? I have the feeling that a driver based in the south may give a better deal than a Bangkok driver. Are there a different taxi line for us going south?

Post what time you arrive and where from you might find you can share a taxi with another member
