Google Places?

I need a little techie thinking on this:

 

I'm in Europe and I've been helping out a friend registering his bar in Bangkok on Google Places. He's not technically adept (even email seems to be a challenge at times) so I can't really expect much help.

 

I can set it up but he's using a personal mobile for his business line - which means there's no landlines he wants to advertise. Okay, so in theory Google will mail a postcard with a password, but we've gone this route and he insists that no card has shown up at the bar. So I'm stuck...

 

Can anyone suggest a way around this? I've never registered a Google Places account but it seems hooked on the idea of validating via the phone. There must be a way around it...

Seriously, there must be a way to register a business from outside the country..

install a VPN and select a server in the country that you want to be designated as being in when you invoke the VPN.

 

many vpn services out there. I use strongvpn.com. they have one plan that is 55 dollars a year. if you don't know what a VPN is, read the following... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Private_Network

Skip Google places and just make sure you are on foursquare. Google places here sucks compared to the level of accuracy of foursquare.
