A virus coming thru a discussion board?

I am on only maybe a dozen sites and lately something is trying to get thru my protection forces. I read that a discussion board can be infected.

 

 

I get an automatic e mail every time a few of the topics on here get a response. I am wondering if maybe there is a virus in there somewhere.

 

 

How will I know if I am getting it thru here, well if no one else is getting it, then this board is fine.

I just had the same problem. It took an hour or two to resolve the problem. McAfee and Windows Defender. If I'm correct a virus can be sent via a photo download. Keep you firewall and security software updated.

I was on the phone with an IT friend and it took about 3 hours from start to finish. Okay, thats two of us now.

Definitely no viruses on the email, very very slim chance that there is a problem with the forum. Anyone else? Sounds like you are both suffering from normal problems. Any more info?

I notice you have a flash animation from "Free flash toys" in your signature... I had a look at that site and it's got spyware written all over it... I think it's more likely to be your computer that is infected... sites like that will put all sorts of nightmares on your computer.

A few other members have that countdown as well. I will get rid of it before I leave for LOS!

Download MalwareBytes' Anti-malware and see what it can find (often a lot more than other software).

 

If it finds anything and removes it, reboot and scan again... if it finds infections again... that's bad :-/

We did that and cleaned the computer and then I loaded a new and beter protection program.

No virus from signature it's just a simple flash displayed on board

But the good question is : What is your internet browser ? Internet explorer ?

Have many exploit for Internet Explorer but not so much for firefox, Is this one up to date ?

Otherwise yes it's possible using a signature as an exploit but it's quite complex and this not come from FreeFlashToys.com since it's a clasic flash animation.

 

If you know on which thread you have this problem send web adress please.

is your flash version upto date? There are a bunch of flash ads with maleware running.

You may have subscribed to those threads. On the right column on the main page look for 'Watched Content'. Amy threads that you have subscribed to will be listed. You can unsubscribe from them.

I did subscribe to them and I think its coming from a movie charts site.
