Recommended Posts

To anyone out there willing to voice an opinion..

i am incredibly intrested in purchasing & learning to use a dslr camera , however as you will gather i have no previous knowlege or experience of these other than peering endlessly at all models & types displayed in shop windows.

As someone who has is unsure of all requirements and good starting points i am looking for some assistance in -

1, which model to go for?

2, prices i should expect to pay?

3, where best to purchase?

Having only been in Pattaya for a matter of months and workin most that time i am yet to work out where , what & how as of yet and would appreciate any help in this??

In addition is there any sort of club/s in these parts that may be open to someone like me to join.

Thanks -

if anyones listening / reading

Here are few good sites to use as a resource for comparing cameras. Word of mouth is good, but also do your due diligence, know the specs and do some research on your own.

Another site to consider is http://www.kenrockwell.com/

This guy strongly recommends the Nikon D5000 (which I ended up buying and are very happy with) plus a 'dream-team' of lenses to go with it.

All the best on your search and education.

I have just, today, bought the very same model. Spent ages in the shop trying them all for feel (and price) and talking them through with the extremely helpful assistant, followed by a nearly half hour session on using it. Am itching to try it out, but have to wait for the battery charge then read the manual!! Also forgot to buy batteries for the flash gun.

Mind you I reckon I'll still take crap pics when out in LOS

But...what do I know?
