Pattaya to Cambodia ?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi, could anyone give me some advice on the best way to get from Pattaya to Cambodia, then Cambodia to Bangkok please? I will be out to Pattaya mid January with my wife and we wondered whether we should attempt this. I would be grateful for any suggestions and any information about a good place to stay in Cambodia as we have never been there before. Thanks Barney.

It depends what you mean by best way - fly with AirAsia or by road.

Either way, now that you've sorted out your Avatar, you ought to spend some time finding your way around the Forums and using the search button.

There's a wealth of information in the Cambodia etc Forum HERE

Also, we're setting off on November 15th HERE

You could always follow that adventure, but apart from your air tickets if you fly, don't fret about pre-booking anything much. It's more fun to do it on the fly and better to stay flexible.

My own little Angkor Wat TR from Phnom Penh you'll find in my signature.

Have fun.

The easiest would be to catch a cab to BKK then fly to Phnom-penh

Last time I went there I decided at 6pm that I wanted to be in Cambodia in the next mornig ! I went straight in a travel agency and got a bangkokairways return ticket for 8.000b

Next trip will be a bit more planed (bit not to much as said edge) so I book my ticket in advance for 4.000b on air asia

Taxi PTTY to BKK are around 800 to 1000b

In phnom-penh, tuk-tuk airport to hotel is 2$, or just a bit more in a aircon taxi.

The first goal of the tuk-tuk driver will be to get you to an other hotel than the one he mentionned (this is the national game...). He will give thouthands of reasons (yours is overbooked, too expensive, to noisy, dirty...) and will try to drop you in a place where he's got a tip from the hotel. and you can be sure this tip will be charged in your room rate... funny hey ? so stick to you choice whatever he says.

Hi Edge, finding my way around a little bit easier now. You are right, there is loads of information about Cambodia, Bangkok etc. So I will do more looking and less asking in future. Thanks for your advice. We will probably go to Cambodia late January but keeping my options open until we get to Pattaya. Hope to meet up with you some time. Barney & Betty

Hi jojomecanic. thanks for all your advice and links. We will take it all on board especially the tip about the taxis! We will attempt to do a trip report when we get back. Barney & Betty
