Ko Lanta

Was thinking og going to Ko Lanta with my girlfriend but don,t know whats there or how long to stay,,,any info would be great ,,

have not been myself but my Norwegian friend highly recommended it,

i think it's a quiet area and a good diving region,

he said he did'nt spend to much as there was not to much to do.

but he stayed for his entire trip so it could'nt have been boring.

Hit ko lantra 2 years ago. Rented a scooter in Pang Na and rode down thru krabi as far as ko lantra. As I went south out of krabi, more and more of the ladies were wearing head scarves and less and less pork was available on the menu. Ferry ride was nice. As I recall, there were 2 islands joined by a bridge. The tourist areas were on the further sothern island. Beautiful island, nice beaches but not much going on. Managed to find a little company in a massage shop and a thai karokie place, but not great quality or value. I was traveling alone, mostly exploring, but if I did it again, I'd bring company. In a nutshell, nice quiet tropical island.

I stayed there in February for 5 nights with a BG, ok place. They have day excursions you can go on or ride a scooter around the island.

 

No girls to be found. I posted some photos of Lanta, Chang and Phuket I think in March under the trip section you may want to check out.

Cunt of a place...but if you take your own girl it may be OK....I did not find any bars etc worth going to.There were a couple of brothel type places but they were full of over 45 yo women.This place has a very heavy Muslim influence so maybe that is why there is not much action there.

Got stuck there for two days. Really nice place with a Reggae bar on the beach but can't remember the name. The crux of the matter was we were on a mongering holiday and did no research so stuck with no girls for those two days. Ditched the place and went back to Patong. Same scene with Phi Phi. Loads of Swedes there and overall vibes where good but please bring a gf or tgf if you are looking for action.

Lanta is a good place to chill out for a few days, especially if you are travelling with a bird.

If you like nice beaches, clear water, snorkeling and a relaxed atmosphere, then it’s the place for you.

 

It’s quite a large Size Island, 6 km wide and nearly 40 kms long, 9 beaches, coastlines have more than 70 small islands and plenty of forest, coral reefs and under water life.

 

All sorts of accommodation available, from 5* to basic bungalows.

 

The best way to go would be via Phuket and then Krabi.

 

Weather on Ko Lanta is mainly influenced by monsoons, which change direction twice a year, coming once from the south-west and once from the north-east. This causes Ko Lanta to have only two seasons - the winter season and the rainy season. The best time to visit Ko Lanta is from November until May.

I have been there 5 times, always in July (the low season) and last year was the only time it was wet and cloudy, every other time it was sunny and great weather.

 

It is a great place to take a gf and over High Season the place is really busy which is why I go in July when I can have a whole beach to myself. Certainly the infrastructure is there for it to be quite a busy place in peak season - but it aint no Phuket. Mainly Muslim locals but that doesn't affect the falang at all. Great range of accommodation and the island is worth exploring on a scooter. Any of the reggae bars will supply alternative stimulants to booze.

 

P4P options revolve around a few establishments all together ... my mate picked up a spinner last July who was way cute so I disagree with the poster who says they were all over 45 ... quite a range of nice girls were there and it was the Kingsbirthday that night. Mainly frequented by local Thai but falang welcome.

 

Ferries from Krabi and Phuket stop by May so if flying into the area after that then fly to Krabi.

The area you're speaking of is on the main road out of town going south, just into the Sala Dan area. You'll see the Holiday Villa on your right and The Guitarman Bar on your left, then a big black sign for the Marlin bar also on your left.

The A on the map is the hotel (crummy) but across the street in the triangle is where the action is. There you'll see bars that say karaoke and plenty of girls past 22h. Haven't checked the talent at all but there were some cute ones as I rolled past.
