Does Anyone Know What These Chips From Chiang Mai Are? potato

The chips are white, a bit larger and thicker than regular crisps.

 

A friend of mine ten or so years ago worked right up in the north, teaching local hill tribe farmers how to grow potatos- instead of growing opium.

 

He could speak Chinese like they do (the local Thais can't) & told me that potatos grow very well high up in the hills. So maybe you did eat locally grown 'Spuds'

 

The company he worked for was United Biscuits (it's big in the 'Packet Snack' market Thailand & the Far East) which got huge UN grants to assist hill farmers in changing crops.

 

Were they as good as back home-or better? If indeed they were Spuds.
