Bangkok: Do not travel says DFAT

Australians are advised not to travel to Bangkok (excluding Suvarnabhumi International Airport) due to the extreme risk of violence around military cordons and the possibility of widening violence. The Thai authorities have intensified military operations around a cordoned area in central Bangkok and heavy fighting is likely. There is a risk of violence breaking out elsewhere in Bangkok. Australians in Bangkok are advised to stay indoors, monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities. Australians in Bangkok without essential business should consider departing if it is safe to do so.

At this stage there are no reports of civil disturbances affecting the operations of Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

DFAT advises intending passengers to reconsider their need to travel to Thailand due to the deterioration in the security environment caused by widening political unrest and civil disorder occurring in Bangkok and other parts of the country. Australians in Thailand should avoid any protest sites, demonstrations or military cordons and exercise extreme caution due to the strong possibility of further violence.

The Australian Embassy in Bangkok is still operational. However, due to ongoing violent clashes in central Bangkok, including in front of the Australian Embassy, the Embassy will be closed to visitors from Monday 17 May 2010 until further notice. Australians in need of urgent assistance should contact the Embassy by phone, or they can contact the 24 hour Consular Emergency Centre in Canberra (see Where to Get Help for details).

Hmmm...I'll only be in BKK for a day (going from there to Phuket), so hopefully it won't interrupt my plans...would seriously suck. I'll be arriving on the 13th or 14th...just enough time between now and then for things to get heated up.

DFAT and other government departments are always issuing warnings...if you believe everything they post absolutely no where is safe.

Sure, there are some problems, but its aslo an ass saving exercise, so if something were to happen, the government can say, "well, we warned you, didnt we?"

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

Due to low numbers of people in town, I will start the meetings in our bars to help our girls and managers, please check back often incase things are changed.  I will be sharing the love around town later, but Soi 6 is first on my list (including bars that are friendly competition)
If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
Monday 6 pm - 8pm  (then bar crawl after)
      21st March - Playpen Soi 6
28th March - Night wish bar Soi 6

18th April - where angels play Soi 6
25th April -  (next bar we have open)

2nd May - (next bar we have open)
      9th May - Cooters bar soi 6
16th May - Hot shots bar Soi 6
23rd May - (next bar we have open)
      30th of May - Lust soi 6
      6th of June - Illuzion
13th of June - (next bar we have open)

I look forward to meeting people again.
