Sunbeam Hotel - conference room and buffet

I contacted various hotels including sunbeam hotel, to arrange the I.T meeting, they all seem to ignore emails, so I got my GF to do a follow up call.

 

I went to see them and explained that this meeting will be every 2 weeks and if they look after us, we will be back.

 

First personal meeting with them to talk, we finalised everything, they agreed on the price, told me that the minimum order was for 50 people. 17500 baht. They wouldn't budge on this to help us out, even though we would attract some very good advertising.

 

They said that internet access is available and no problems.

 

Second meeting with them, the Thai manager kept ignoring us and talking about other stuff. He kept agreeing with everything, and didnt tell us he didnt understand.

 

We decided to make sure that there was internet up there, as this guy was unsure. Then we get up there, the internet has a password on it and everyone needs a username.

 

The I.T guy comes up and tells us that the internet is 200 baht per person, even for hotel guests, I said that it should be free, no one wants to pay for the internet, especially I.T guys. Eventually they decided to waive the charge... I didn't even thank them, they started making excuses that they charge for the internet as they can keep an eye on porn downloaders, that can create problems for them.

 

On the third meeting with them to pay deposit, they added a 50 baht per person charge for softdrinks. Too late to change meeting place.

 

On the day.

 

I had asked them to make the internet access easy, they had one username and password, but only allowed one connection, so eventually they turned up with 20 usernames and passwords, so I had to hand them out.

 

All the signs said "Bryan + Steves friends" not Pattaya I.T meeting, also there reception has no sign, so people cant even find the front door, should have thought about that earlier.

 

We provided some alcohol to sell, to reduce the chances of getting a loss, I told the Thai guy who was serving, 5 times to take money for it, I also asked for a sign printed on some paper, they agreed twice, but it never came, and he didnt collect the money, even though I kept asking him, in various ways, and asking him if he understood. He never did ask anyone for money, but by then we thought sod it, hand it out for free.

 

None of the managers came up at all to oversee and check on things, just 3 service guys that were clueless.

 

There was only 25 seats, not sure why they do a minimum order for 50 people.

 

There was only a few plates of food, I kept asking for more, but it didnt come, i kept asking the Thai staff to hand food out, but they did it once.

 

I've had no follow up phone call from anyone at the hotel, so I thought that I would do a thread instead. I was very disappointed by the tiny amount of food. (It was well presented though)

 

We made a 12,000 baht loss on the first meeting, and we will be looking for a better location at a cheaper price, if anyone knows a hotel that wants some very good publicity, please let me know.

why not make it into a conference/pool party at one of the bars on the darkside? There wouldn't be any conference room fee, food can be ordered, can buy drinks from the bar and have girls to entertain the guys. All you need would be a projector and a white wall, and hopefully the bar's got wirless. It would be alot more fun too

I will donate a projector. for a ticket from LAX. 5555! No realy I have a projector not in use.

To make matters worse, 3 of us have bad food poisoning from this meeting, 1 was in hospital today. I've been throwing up violently all night. Can't make the Friday meeting tonight.

 

 

why not make it into a conference/pool party at one of the bars on the darkside? There wouldn't be any conference room fee, food can be ordered, can buy drinks from the bar and have girls to entertain the guys. All you need would be a projector and a white wall, and hopefully the bar's got wirless. It would be alot more fun too

 

Some of them might not know where the darkside bars are, and its a bit unprofessional mixing it like that.

Its a good idea, but I don't think its quite the setting, no air con for a start? Do they have several power points everywhere? Where do I park my car?

I got the GF to phone them and complain, they said they are very sorry and offered to buy me free flowers and come to see me to say sorry. I said never mind.

 

He also offered me a free meal and drink..... I am sure that there food is fine, the issue that we had, was they left it out for so long, and never replaced them.

The Pattaya Beer Garden probably wouldn't be good for a presentation but for an informal get together it would be ideal and the wifi is free.

To answer you questions there are power points I dont know how many but I have used one there. As for car parking the temple in Pattaya Tai close to 2nd Road opposite the school If I remember correctly 10 baht for a bike 20 baht for a car (could be wrong haven't used it for a while but cheap anyway)
