Buy Meds at Hospital?

I was wondering if a better alternative to buying certain medications at a local pharmacy, with the potential for fake and possibly dangerous drugs, would be to go to one of the local hospitals and buy meds through their on-site pharmacy. Does anyone have any experience with this? If it's more expensive is it worth it? Are they more reliable in terms of proving "real" meds?

Smart thinking. I've seen two Pattaya pharmacies improperly store antibiotics on the shelf instead of refrigerated like it says on the package.

All medicine is better to buy at local pharmacy and all is cheaper. If you worried about fakes-buy at boots.

I'm not rich but when I'm sick in a foreign country I'll pay a bit extra for medication that has a better chance of working. I bought the improperly stored antibiotics mentioned in my previous post and it did nothing. Antibiotics purchased from Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital started working immediately. Just my experience.

Going to the hospital is cheap and relieable in los. However meds are not so cheap, Foodland is one of the best for varitiy and well stocked and maintianed. You may be better off bringing some things with from home, while other's may be cheaper the other way.

Solid thinking man. Hey each person has there own value on their health. I look at it as a insurance policy...and a relative small premium. I am fortunate that I have international insurance for when I am sick and it covers meds. Even if I had to pay...I would go with what you are suggesting...the mark-up at a hospital is not that much and yes, it is the best you can get to knowing what you are getting is real. I went into a new pharmacy in Jomtien and it was so obvious the fake Cialis that they claimed was real..they had it for 1500 bht and the real one was 2200 bht. The difference, they said, one Made in Thailand by GlaxoSmith Kline...and the other in Australia by GlaxoSmith Kline...the man in the white coat tried to convince me!...sorry a little research...they do not manufacture it in Thailand...

 

I got a Rx for Viagra at Bumrungrad and it was about 10% more in the hospital Rx than a pharmacy in Pattaya. Just as good as a hospital (or even better) is Booths, a UK based pharmacy.

 

We all want the best for ourselves...not something made in a mud-hut in Cambodia!

Fact is, you never know what you are gonna get - hell, even in first wworld countries there are tonnes of fake meds going around.

 

Counterfeit meds is one of the biggest moneymakers for organised crime - even better than video piracy ... get used to it, the stuff being made in China and India are perfect copies and even pharmacists get duped.
