Whats the best sim card to buy in patts again?

I will not be calling/texting the UK.

I will only be calling BG's in patts lol.

It was d-tag and one-to-call if my memory serves me right.

Depends...

If you want long validity it's DTAC (2 baht per min)

If you want short validity it's One2Call (1 baht per min)

Validity? maybe it is my language but you load up 300 baht into a 12 call and that lasts one year for the load (time) and the number. I think after a year you lose the load (minutes or time allowed to call) but not hte number for a while.

A mate loses his DTAC after like a few months but I keep both my 12 AIS numbers for many many many years so I think 12 CAll has long validity...

I think with either carrier it depends on the plan you are on. I know DTAC has plans for cheap calls and plans for long credit validity but not on the same plan. I suspect AIS (One2call) is the same.

Any body know what the best package is for using the internet/e-mail on a mobile in Patts. I've got AIS 12Call but have just bought a smart phone. I've tried accessing the internet but it seems to run down the credit quickly. I presume you can buy an unlimited access package.

They have packages but the best ones were yearly ones. Or as of spring they had no decent pay as you go data plans. And my 12 call does not allow data transmission either from an air card but does let it go from the smart phone....

Unlimited access is about 1000 Baht a month.

does DTAC offer plans so you can use the mobile # in your home country?

I'm with dtac, you can extend your validaty for 1 year for about 20-30 bt,you can go online and register and change your plans and check who you've called and how much it cost, also handy if you lose that special girls number. My current plan is 1 bt/1 min and 1 bt/1 sms.

I've also got an internet sim with dtac,100hrs for 199bt + VAT for 1 month.Unlimited is 999bt + VAT.

You can also have international roaming added for free.

Yes, but you are roaming so as with any network it's farking expensive in comparison to when you are in Thailand.

You're not wrong there ! I went to Cambodia,1km from Thailand and it switched me to a Cambodian company,I didn't realise it until I ran out of credit after a quick call to the lady and a couple of texts.

Tansak... You are quite right about promotions.

It seems the promotions change very often but 1 year validity for 1 baht a minute is hard to find these days.

If your on a good plan I would stick to it.

  • 3 weeks later...

I use 1-2 Call for my smartphone and bout the 100 hour package and some minutes for something like 400 Baht. The best way to use the package is to only turn on APN when you want to check email, surf the net, etc. and then turn off so as not to run down the 100 hours when sleeping, out and about, etc. I don't think there is a MB criteria, just time. Also, when in the hotel you can turn off APN and just use their wireless to do all your emails, internet and downloads which take time and volume. Works for me and after a couple of weeks there is plenty left over.

With 1-2 call you can transfer unused call money to someone which makes a nice departing gift to someone. Giving some free Baht phone time is always welcomed.

Common sense is not very common.
