i normally change my money to thai baht from home in the bank or credit union , but i read somewhere that in bkk a bank called superrich gives the best rates if you want to change your money while out there , i always bring cash becuase its easy and keep it in the safe .

It has to be Travellers Cheques. Easy to cash and good rate plus they are insured.

Loving it on Soi 6

Cash unless you can get high denomination Travelers checks ie at least US 300 or UK 200pounds

Can also go into banks and get cash advance on Visa card but check fees before hand.

All ATM's now charge 150baht per transaction. Open a Thai bank account when you are here and next time can transfer money at a better rate. Kasikorn will let you open one with a tourist visa.

always better to take cash and change over there, just change Bt5000 for the 1st day and shop around for the best rate, here is Australia I look at the advertised exchange rates and add approx Bt3 which will be the rate I will get in LOS

Hi

I intend to open a Thai bank A/c when I arrive in September.

A couple of questions:

1. Do you know if Kasikorn bank has a minimum cash desposit for foreigners on tourist visa?

2. On a recent bank thread there was mention of a 1,499 Baht annual insurance payment. Do you know anything about this? Is it optional? What are you insuring against, etc?

Thanks in advance

Tony

As long as you have 2000 Baht in your account (1000 Baht if you will use it again within 12 months) the account will remain open and no fees.

Never heard of it with K-Bank.

Some cash (changed at the airport in BKK), and an ATM card. TCs are good but a pain in the ass having to lug your PPort around all the time. Lots of ATMs available but remember that there is a 150 baht fee.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I know when using an Australian card this is the most expensive option but also the most convenient. If you plan on using this method you have to a backup just in case you loose the card. TCs cost less but a little less convenient. Carrying cash while convenient is a bit of a risk.

i took a prepaid card this year, got it over the counter at thomas cooks but they can be got at the airport at fedex,it cost 2% to load and a 150 bt charge at the atm, seems steep but if card lost or stolen they replace within 24 hrs and a large amount can be drawn in one go,and no messing about with the passport every time you need cash

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

Due to low numbers of people in town, I will start the meetings in our bars to help our girls and managers, please check back often incase things are changed.  I will be sharing the love around town later, but Soi 6 is first on my list (including bars that are friendly competition)
If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
Monday 6 pm - 8pm  (then bar crawl after)
      21st March - Playpen Soi 6
28th March - Night wish bar Soi 6

18th April - where angels play Soi 6
25th April -  (next bar we have open)

2nd May - (next bar we have open)
      9th May - Cooters bar soi 6
16th May - Hot shots bar Soi 6
23rd May - (next bar we have open)
      30th of May - Lust soi 6
      6th of June - Illuzion
13th of June - (next bar we have open)

I look forward to meeting people again.
