No more free water

Last year it was the end of the free towels at Tony's gym this year it's the end of free drinking water .

What's the deal for next year Tony , bring your own equipment ?

Park a million euros worth of cars in front of your gym but because business is down

let the customers pay for a glass of water .

Why build a brand new super gym when business is down ?

The answer is simple dont renew your membership and let them know why. If enough people done it things would change though I dare say he will find another way to get more money. He is a very good businessman.

The only way I can not renew is to die.

Mind you, I haven't been for a while so I ought to go check that my Lifetime M'ship hasn't expired. :Circle_Sharks:

My girl was watching some discussion on television about the street filter

machines and was a little shocked to find out that in a lot of places the

water isn't actually that clean and contained a lot of iron and bacterials .

They did some test and the water was not really qualified as drinking water

( not even by Thai standards ) .

I don't know how these machines work exactly but i think the water is being

filtered in the machine and they need a filter change once in a while .

I got a drinking water device in my kitchen and i have to change the filters

once every 6/9 months .

It also looks like the machines aren't operated by the city but by induviduals

with a shop and to cut the costs why change the filters when the water "looks"

clean .

I do low level exercise a la exercise bike, power walks, rowing machine, weights. Nothing to extreme! But I want to work out most days while I am there.

Question: Is there a gym close to 3rd Rd and Soi 17.....apart from Tony's? Doesn't have to be air-conditioned....here in Oz I still workout on 30C plus days.

And what/how much volume of sports or energy drink, low in sugar, would folks recommend to replace what I burn up over a day? I normally drink 2 litres of water plus 1 or 2 juices, a mug of tea and a coffee. No alcohol.

"If it feels good, just keep doing it!"

I spent quite a while hanging round an apartment block with one of those and what you say is about right.

According to the outside of the boxes they work by reverse osmosis. This work by forcing the water through a membrane. I takes electricity to do that so there is another avenue to cut corners.

  • 2 weeks later...

A gym without free water - LOL - in Australia the Consumer Affairs Department of state governments would kick their arse. Welcome to Thailand though!

I was at Tony's gym on 3rd road a few months ago. We were in the back area in the big swimming pool with the slides. We were swimming but they turned the lights off (it was only about 9pm) and my TG hit her head on the cement boarder of the pool and bled quite a bit.

They admitted fault, we kept calm, not really into blame or causing trouble, these things happen - I told them I would take her to hospital and wanted to know what insurance policy they had. But they told me for casual visits, there is no policy - "enter at own risk".
