Top 5 Restaurants

1 . Mantra When we go we always tend to go for the 7 course, wine matched menu. A bit pricey but always top notch.

2. Casa Pascal Again, one for the foodies. 3700 baht for the grand gourmet menu with unlimited beverages. In my experience, the menu has varied from outstanding to very good. I go with a pal who is also a bit of a food and wine buff and last time we drank four and a half bottles of prosecco with the starter, two bottles of white wine we didn't even want particularly were forced upon us and the free beverages also extended to eight glasses of Remy Martin XO during the cheeseboard. There is an A'la carte menu also, a gourmet menu and the grand gourmet menu without the unlimited beverages is a 1550 baht.

3. Nong Jai A little outdoor restaurant at the top of a busy plaza off 2 road. Very cheap but delicious Thai fare. The sautee sweet chili clams were a bit messy but very memorable.

4. Pattaya Beach Bar Just popped in for a beer and some over the counter muscle relaxants overlooking the sea to break up a hectic night on Walking Street. we had a look at the menu and tried a few dishes and the food was marvellous all round.

5. Zico's Excellent Brazillian BBQ type restaurant and very stylish to boot with a terrace bar upstairs that actually plays some good tunes (good tunes are very hard to find in pattaya). A selection of meats of BBQ'd meats that are very well cooked though I wasn't mad keen on the shark. They have a salad buffet but who needs veg when you've got piles of beautiful meat?

Honourable mention - Shennanigans, nothing too special but you can get a good taste of home here if you do a bit of damage to your digestive system by pushing the boat out. If you're a fat pig the sunday carvery is good value but try somewhere else if one plate of food is all you can manage otherwise it's not great value. You can also get English Breakfast tea here, which is nice.

My favourite restaurant in Pattaya. They have another branch by the DHL shop near Mikes Mall.
