Hotel recommendation

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I’m looking for a recommendation for a guest friendly hotel relatively close to the Nana Plaza action, a maximum of 1000 baht (in September).

Would need wi-fi in my room and for it to be relatively quiet, apart from that I’m easy.

I’ve had a look at Evergreen, Majestic Suites and Ibis Nana but are a bit above my budget.

I’ll be arriving there approximately 8.30am, so I’m guessing that a hotel will more likely have a free room available to allow me to immediately check-in, but I’m happy with a guesthouse providing that it something that an airport taxi driver would be able to easily find.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

wont get much for <1000bht around nana. Ibis Nana hotel is advertised in sept for $33US a night on Agoda for a standard room, so only just over your limit.

The majestic suites is a nice small hotel. The rooms are a bit small but modern. I have stayed there twice before. As you say they are advertised at $40US.

Farang = Walking ATM. TG's push the right buttons and money comes out. PIN = BBBJ

the rooms in the nana hotel on website look awful...are they

yes - you get what you pay for.

The Ibis Nana hotel is fairly new but still a basic hotel.

I didn't think that there was much in way for a cheap charlie like me around Nana!

The Ibis charge extra to use wi-fi in your room, so that pushes it up a bit.

Does anyone know if Majestic Suites or Omni have free wi-fi?

Also been looking at the following hotels - Ambassador, Pinnacle, City Lodge and Manhattan. Anyone got any comments to make on these hotels?

1000 baht including internet might be tough.

Here are some that might make the cut:

City Lodge (soi 9, soi 19)

Ever Rich Inn:

Parkway Inn:

Woraburi:

Hollywood Inn (more of a short time hotel)

Paradiso (soi 10):

Cozy at Ten (soi 10):

Royal Asia lodge (soi 8):

Unico Express:

Grand Lucky:

Not all of these list prices under 1000 baht, but for example City Lodge, and Ever Rich I've seen advertisements for them both just under 1000 baht on sign boards in front of their hotels recently.

Excellent list! Thanks for taking the time to post them.

I've been searching on Agoda, I didn't realise that there was an "additional charge" to the price they quoted :NoNo3:

Anyone got experience of Unico Express?

It has some indifferent reviews (like any budget hotel) and seems about a ten min walk from NEP, but have offers on their website of 835THT per night.

I actually stayed at Royal Asia Lodge when I was in BKK a couple of years ago. It had a 'retro' feel to it then. Again was about a ten min walk from Shuhumvik Road, said that they had a free tut-tut - which never seemed to be available when I needed it!

The Walk-in special at City Lodge on Soi 9 is 999 baht, but only available on weekdays. I believe, but am not positive, that they recently added wifi. Otherwise, it's a good option, just get a room in the back away from the noise from Sukhumvit.

Hi

I'm guessing you mean the NEP (Nana Entertainment Complex) To the best of my knowledge, the only hotel close to Nana Plaza is The Nana hotel. I stayed there in November 2007 & everything was fab. Clean room - I was in 464 - jobby brown interior but a wardrobe is a wardrobe as far as I'm concerned - comfy bed - there is a pool on the same level as the Skytrain - scares the shit out of you the first time if you are in the pool at the Skytrain end when it sudddenly glides past. Plenty of towels - guest friendly - but be prepared for 2 separate ID checks - including one on yourself at Reception then another on the girl only at the lift.

My price back in 2007 was 1,200 Baht including an all you can eat breakfast buffet, so price now maybe a wee bit over your budget. I booked with the hotel direct. However, as the Nana hotel is directly opposite the NEP - potentially no costly taxi rides - plenty of bars & street restaurants in area + banks.. If you like live rock music, there were 2 bars within walking distance turning right as you leave Nana hotel - both called Hillary Bar (1 & II).

And you have the (in)famous Nana front car park entertainment from about 1am. An interesting experience - all human life is there... plus the Nana disco - personally I thought the music when I was there was just too loud - so I always left after a couple. But it was busy.

Of course I guess some things may have changed now, but if I was returning to stay in Bangkok, I would again try & book into The Nana.

Enjoy

Thanks for the reply.

I was going to give the Nana hotel a miss as the opinions on this hotel vary widely - some love it, some hate it.

I've seen the Nana car park mentioned a few times, but don't really know what it is (is it actually a car park?) or what is special about it. Same about the Nana Disco as well. Time to do some more research me thinks.

Anyway thanks for all that replied. I decided to go with the Ibis Nana in the end. I've read mostly good reports and being as I arrive early I wanted a hotel with a fair chance that I would be able to check straight in.

I'm only going to be in BKK a couple of days but if I get the chance, I'll take a look at the other hotels and report back.

I used the nana city inn a couple of times just for a couple of nights before flying home.

I have there card but theres no web site just phone numbers ..662-253-4468-9 and 6568801-2

Its 23/164 sukhumvit soi 4 klongteoy bangkok.

pretty sure its around 900 to 1000 a night rooms are a bite dated but quiet at the back and on soi 4

so perfect location for nana entertainment at short walk to sukhumvit rd and sky train station.

found a link to a review if that helps

And also heres the emails they have [email protected] and [email protected]

Hope this is of some help to you

soi 4, 5 minute walk to Sukhumvit, 700 baht

very good value, i've stayed here 4 times.

I've been able to surf off the unsecured wireless

that is in the area before but it's not 100% of

the time.

If they are full swan beer bar complex across the

road has 600 baht rooms while not as good are not

the worst especially for the price.

Don't bother with a reservation as it's the type of

place you show up and inquire.

Hi, Glad you got yourself booked-in somewhere. Please let us know how it goes.

You are correct with the mixed reviews - that's what attracted me! - reviews range from "I wouldn't stay anywhere else" to "I'd rather sleep on the street than spend another night there". I also read several reviews that bemoaned the lack of a pool. Well there is a pool & a hidden jacuzzi to the left side rear of the pool. My experience there was all good.

With regards to The Nana Car Park - wel, yes it is the front car park of the hotel.. but at night from about 1am onwards & particularly from 2am when NEP closes it becomes a kind of freelancers market.

As to the Nana Disco - one review I read said that if you could'nt score there, you could'nt score anywhere. Well, I failed to score, but as I posted, I left early after 2 drinks because I thought the music played was just too loud for me. It was free for guests - sliding admission charge for non-guests.
