LK Metropole or LK Reniassance

As per title I need to book in the next couple of days. I was Thinking of the LK Metropole basicly because you get 25% discount if staying more then three nights but I want a nice hotel, close to the action. I'm looking to pay upto £50 (2500bht) per night but if it's cheaper that would be good and I plan on staying for ten days.

I've read the reports on the LK Reniassance which looks very nice, But I can't seem to find any info on the LK Metropole. I welcome your opinions

Guys,

Just been reading the review on August Suites, if I add this into the mix. Where woul;d youm stay?

Thanks

Here are two links that should help with some info. This was my take on it I posted elsewhere. Perhaps I should have done a proper review of the place.

"I stayed at the LK Metropole For 1 month this winter and it was just fine. I had a studio room which was large and had 2 balconies. Absolutely avoid a room with a door that connects to another room (you can and will hear everything). This was a major pain until they switched my room, then all was good. Breakfast was a little pricey for what you get but the coffee is good. Pool was great as was the fitness center. All in all a nice place to stay if you have the extra $$$. Girl policy is very nice (as in there is none). The girls come and go as they please so if you are into bringing dodgy people back to your room you might want a place where they check IDs at the door."

Zubbi, cheers mate, didn't think to look on youtube. The video I saw for the LK Metropole doesn't exactly give me any confidence that my belongings will be safe as a guy had setup a hidden a camera to film the cleaners while he was out, they were looking all through his stuff and stole some money,,,,,,,not impressed although I won't be leaving any valubles out of the safe.

Ken, Cheers for your opinion of the Metropole, very helpful about the door connecting the rooms and the noise, I'll enjoy looking through the links.

Cheers

I previously stayed at the LK Renaissance and was planning to book the Versace suite at the LK Metropole. I guess I assumed they would be checking ID's at the door at the Metropole like they do at the Renaissance. Is that not correct? If not, I'm definitely not staying there.

I'm an idiot, it was the LK Royal Suite instead. Any one know what their joiner protocol is?

LK Rennaisance and Metropole are relatively close to each other on the same street. I stayed at the Rennaisance but don't know much about the Metropole.

I had the studio room booked online through agoda: http://www.lkpattaya.com/room_detail.php?room_name=Studio%20Room&hotel=LK%20Renaissance

The good thing about Rennaisance (and Metropole for that matter) is that it's located near multiple beer bars as well as other well known establishments such as Devil's Den and a few go go's. It's a little far to Walking Street by foot (at least to me) so you'll have to find a baht bus or motor taxi if you're lazy like me.

I had complimentary breakfast every morning in the restaurant. There's a mini cereal/bagel type setup, and you also get a choice of breakfast entree from a menu (English breakfast, American breakfast, Thai dishes, etc.). Not a bad value to start off the day. The staff is generally friendly and helpful.

Obviously there's no joiner fees. The ladies do leave their ID's at the front desk, and the next morning you will get a call in your room when she leaves to see if everything was alright.

Some of the things I didn't like:

-no gym, but apparently you can use the one at Metropole

-wi-fi internet connection for my laptop on the sixth floor was horrible. Weak signal that faded in and out, and eventually stopped working altogether after a few days. There's computers in the lobby but that's not exactly where I want to be seen browsing Pattaya Addicts if you know what I mean and connection isn't that fast. There are a few internet cafes around the area.

-it took FOREVER to fill the bathtub with water, because I like to use the jacuzzi feature

-during checkout, the guy checking me out tried to stick some additional charges onto my bill. I only used the listerine bottle so I had to straighten that out. Best to settle any bills everyday.

Have stayed at the Renaissance. It is very nice, all staff are very friendly. You can also get a bargain there during low season. Either use the usual web sites to book or on one stay I just walked in (was already staying elsewhere for a couple of days) and negotiated a price. They have set discounts based on how long you will stay but they are all significantly cheaper than their advertised top rate.

It is a great location, rooms are huge, they check the girls ID but are very friendly etc etc.

Highly recommend.

I have stayed at both. Slightly prefer the Renaissance as the breakfast was better there. Plus the swimming pool (although smaller) was upstairs & more secluded. The pool at the Metropole is fairly near the road and traffic noise was apparent. Would happily stay at either again. Make sure you look around for the best price as they sometimes have some good deals.

The rooms look very similar to me. No significant winner there. The hotels are located only 200-300 metres apart so location is identical really. The Renaissance is nearer to 2nd road, directly opposite the Megabreak pool hall which is a must if you like pool. The Metropole is further up the road, nearer to the Oasis go go bar & Wetherspoons sports bar.

Staying in a deluxe room at the Renaissance right now...and for the next 18 nights :D..and so far been nothing but pleased.

I stayed here a couple of years ago and my only complaint was the shower been a pull up hose type, but solved this by getting a deluxe room instead of a superior...and if i remember right it was a deal on Agoda were the deluxe was only $1 dearer than the superior.

As for the internet connection..no probs!..i havent used the wireless, but there is a wired connection in the room also..and it costs nothing extra...was even offered a cable for my laptop at reception, but had my own :D

Ive pretty much avoided the beer bars across the street,if only to avoid any dramas when i bring back a girl from elsewhere..im a strong beliver in not doing your bussiness on your doorstep.

The breakfasts are topnotch..and i belive these can even be ordered to your room...but so far ive just wandered down at 10-11am.

All in all really enjoying my stay so far...and theres no probs with multiple girls either..just last night i tried the Devils Den room service..with Jar and Miki, but thats another story ;P :Awesome:

Looked at both hotel rooms and went with metropole because i found the rooms very similar, maybe renaissance slightly better. But for the price difference with the deal on,without doubt metropole.About valuables i always put in safe and never leave anything of value lying about the room Stayed end of april for a week in the superior but would stay in the smaller room if i went back again: :GoldenSmile1:

I was choosing between the two and plumped for the Metropole due to the fact that it has the gym as well. I can't see much difference between the two room wise.

Is the gym decent? Any free weights or bench table?

I dont know to be honest, will be my first time at the Metropole but a mate from here came back from Patts about 4 weeks ago (he stayed at the LK Met) and he gave the place a thumbs up for all facilities. The photo on their website looks like theres a weight bench in there somewhere...

I'm pretty sure that's the case with the Metropole (i booked the standard room which is the cheapest and that apparently has its own balcony). Not sure about the rooms at the Renaissance.

..sorry mate only just saw this reply.

Mikki was sweet...she has a certain sweetness to her, that Jar offset splendidly with her perverness! :07:

Now dont get me wrong..she wasnt some shrinking violet..she definatly had her own confidence about her,but Jar was definatly the one to take charge..ive never seen such enthusiasm from a girl before that i saw in Jar..she seemed to take as much pleasure as me in enjoying Mikki's amazing body! :10of10Score:

Have fun mate..and i hope u havent booked her for the same night as i have...her and Jar were my welcome to Patts, and i intend to heve them both again as my going away present :Grin_Jump1:

  • 7 months later...

Being a big fan of LK Renaissance, I tried to book them thru Agoda like I usually do and found an outrageous rate which forced me to look elsewhere. So I ended booking the one bedroom suite at Metropole. I like the fact of having two rooms (living room and bedroom). Most girls like it too since they have another room to sleep in to escape my snoring!

The one bedroom suites at the Metropole are big but does not make efficient use of space. There is a huge dining room table with table settings that would seat 6-8 which is nice if I actually ever had more than 2 guests. The bathroom with combination shower/tub is typical of what you would find in a regular sized hotel room and not a suite. The LK Renaissance's bathrooms are much bigger and the tubs can usually fit more than one person. If can redesign the suites, I would make use of the extra space and expand the bathrooms.

Other problems include: I had real trouble using the card key for the room. Let me tell you it is a bit embarrassing for your guest to ask 3 times "is this your room"? They had to send an "engineer" to my room to enter the WiFi user id and password instead of just telling it to me over the phone. Plus they charged me 500 baht for my extra guest.

As another person has posted on this forum, there is a problem with "things missing" from Metropole rooms. That is, someone videotaped Metropole staff going through the luggage of a room guest and putting something in her pocket. For my little test, I usually leave a bunch of change on my desk as I hate carrying change and I want to make sure I have 10 baht handy for the bus. Now at the Renaissance, for the past 2 years of staying there almost every month, I NEVER had a problem with change missing. My first day at Metropole, I left mixed curriences on my desk (empyting out my laptop bag) and there was at least 60 baht worth of change along with curriencies. When I returned that night, yes the small change in Baht was missing but everything was still there. I don't normally leave things out as I either lock valuables in the safe or use my luggage lock for those things that won't fit into the safe. Personally, in my opinion, if you leave valuables out in a hotel room, you do it at your own risk.

Overall, if I did not compare it to the LK Renissance, Metropole is a good option because of its location. Other positive things include, strong A/C with independent controls. I actually think the Metropole's AC is better than Renaissance. WiFi seems stable enough. I did have problems with Renaissance internet connectivity. There is a decent sized gym.

One complaint about both hotels is the movable beds... the bed tends to move when you are busy with your guests or guests... or maybe I use too much power! lol.

Well, I have been debating between these 2 hotels myslef, so decided to try them both on my last trip-half of my Pattaya stay at each hotel.

Honestly, I think they are more alike than different and the differences are subtle-it really is a question of what it important to you.

1.I thought for all intents and purposes the rooms were the same

2. Breakfast was essentially the same.

3. Reneissance has Internet hard-wired into the room (there is an Ethernet jack) which makes for a more stable connection. Metropole is wi-fi only. In my case, the wi-fi transmitter was right outside my room, so I had no issues, but this would be dependent on the location of your room.

4. Metropole is a little further away from Second Road, so your barfine will have to walk a little further once you get off the baht bus, but none of mine seemed to mind it.

5. Reneissance religiously checks the IDs of the ladies you bring in, Metropole does not care and makes it purely optional. There used to be a back entrance at the Ren bypassing the front desk, but now it is locked every day from 8 PM to 7 AM, so the girls' ID will always have to be left at the front desk.

6. I thought the staff spoke somewhat better English at the Reneissance

7. I am not into swimming pools, but they did not look significantly different to my untrained eye.

8. The bellboy at the Reneissance is always there and knows exactly what you are up do-kept wishing me a "fun party' whenever I was going out and always seemed to be there when coming back with my barfine-I found it a little weird (but it could be just me).

9. The bathroom at a Studio level at the Metropole has a shower curtain, whereas the one at the Reneissance does not.

10. Hot water was hotter at the Metropole

11. 2 free bottles of water were provided at the Metropole; at the Ren you had to pay for them

Hope this helps.
