How did you find out about Pattaya and how long did it take you to book your first trip after you heard about it?

So I was wondering how most of the BM's on the board found out about LOS, specifically Pattaya, and how long after it took you to finally decided to book a trip?

 

My story goes like this. I heard so many raving reviews about Brazil and was about to book a trip to Rio until I overheard a member at my gym, who is now a close friend of mine now, talking about it. He's actually a world wide mongerer and goes somewhere every month. Asked him where he's been, and as he was going down his list he mentioned Thailand. I abruptly interrupted him by saying "Thailand, what the hell is in Thailand?!". Might I add, this was in December of 2009. He then gave me an are you serious look and responded by saying "Going to Thailand makes going to Brazil look like going to church!".

 

For about two consecutive months I would constantly ask him stories about Brazil and Thailand to compare both places. Both had their advantages and disadvantages, but the prices and crime of Rio, Brazil alone were enough for me to cross it off my list and put it on hold. March 2010 my buddies and I booked our trip for April 2010, but I ended up going alone after they all "faked" on me. Like Leonardo DiCaprio said in the movie "The Beach" - "As for going alone-Fuck it! If that's the way its got to be, then that's the way it is". Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way anymore.

 

If I never eavesdropped in on my gym buddy's conversation that day, I would still to this day have no clue about Thailand and its wonderful treasures it contains. Right place and the right time.

I had a planned trip to visit some friends in the US. But life, as is it's want, fked it up.

 

I wanted a holiday so I thought about visiting my sponsored child in Thailand I had been supporting for years.

I thought it might be nice to actually meet the little lady. I'm sorry I didn't have time to see her last trip.

 

I did some research on LOS and found it was nicely within budget...

I first heard about Pattaya on a Thursday night in Aug 05 from a mate in the works canteen.The following Wednesday afternoon I arrived in Pattaya for 5 nights as a raw newbie and boy did I love it ! Talk about a kid in a sweet shop.

 

When I returned to England I booked to go again 10 days later as my rest days at work all fell nicely into place.

found this website, asked the questions thought about it, had a few drinks with a work mate then a few more then i mentioned it to him and his eyes brightened up, a few days later we booked our trip. 10 days after returning i had booked my return trip.

I heard a lot about Thailand from Army buddies of mine years ago when I was still in but never had a chance to go. Then, about 2 1/2 yrs ago, I started contracting in Afghanistan and turns out a guy that worked for me there has been goin' for about 7 yrs to Pattaya. After hearing his stories and pics, it took me 6 months to start going. Been lovin' it ever since!

I started going to Phuket, like most aussies do, and a few guys mentioned that I should try pattaya. Next time in Thailand Next trip i was in pattaya and bkk and loved it. That was 10 years ago.

we have a site in my country that has informations for the Major cities and places that you Boys can have a lot of "Fun"........and the Thailand forum was(and is)the most active and traffic!!!i was just divorced and i needed to "celebrate" and "party"

 

that was on Sept. 2009.....in a few days i will do my 3rd trip in Pattaya(and the other 2 were only Pattaya)..........

"Discovered" Thailand in late 2009 via these forums.

 

I am taking my 3rd trip in a year in October. That's how much I love it.

Bangkok for the excitment of the city, Pattaya for the sheer simplicity

of its lifestyle and the island for their tranquility.

I was first brought to Pattaya via the USN. I had heard stories of Thailand in general but not specifically Pattaya until we pulled in for 4 days. I had no idea what to expect and now I'm a proud addict.

I first heard about Pattaya on July the 16th last year from a (female) friend who had just returned from a trip all over SE Asia.

 

A few days later I joined the London to Bangkok forum just in time to read the post saying the forum was closing the following week!

 

A Google search led me to BM Scumbag and his excellent Pattaya newbie site and I followed the link on his site and joined this forum. I booked my first trip after reading a few of the forums on here and I arrived in Pattaya for the first time at the end of August 2009.

 

The rest in pretty much history and I have just got back from my fourth trip in less than a year and I have booked trip five for later this year and I am planning trip six which hopefully should be a month long trip next year.

I'd better start by saying I'm a slow starter.......

 

I live in Western Australia, which is a short hop to Asia and quite a cheap flight too. I know quite a few blokes who trip to LOS regularly and I've been hearing about Thailand for a few years - the food, the people, the bars etc etc.

 

But, I hit the big 50 last year and decided I should treat my aging self to a proper holiday for a change, instead of just taking time off work and sitting in my local pub getting pissed every day. So off to Phuket I go as a good little tourist and do all the normal tourist things.

 

Except I'm sitting on my balcony in the evenings watching all these other blokes slipping back into the hotel each night with the absolutely stunning little TG's. Now, I may be a bit reserved but I'm not dumb, I know how the system works because my mates have told me all about it.

 

This has me returning to Aus in a contemplative frame of mind. I review my life - I've given up on relationships 'cause I seem to have a knack of picking the wrong women, my social life is the lads up the pub and sex is becoming a distant memory, I've never done anything risqué and I'm turning into a parody of the single middle-aged man....

 

I hit the internet, I research, my eyes pop out of my head. I pluck up my courage to do something out of the ordinary and book and pay for flights/transfers/hotels. I find the PA site and have all the information I could ever want at my fingertips. I am off as a Newb to Patts in October.

 

How long did it take me to clue up and get myself organised? Too bloody long! I first started hearing about LOS a good 8 years ago

 

The original intent was to take this trip with 2 mates, but as usual they were all dead-set keen to travel and P4P right up to the moment when I told them I had the trip ready to book, and suddenly it was "too much money right now". One of the twats even suggested I book and pay and he'd pay me back $100 a week - yep sure I'm that naive....

 

Anyway, many years in the making, a little over 60 days left to flight time, can't wait!!

I was in Beijing on business and my project finished a day early on a Thursday. I wasn't scheduled to fly out until Monday so I decided to get the heck out of dodge. It was freezing cold in Beijing so I decided to either go to Singapore or Thailand.

 

My co-worker, who lives in Singapore, told me that Thailand was the better place to go. I had actually been to Bangkok once before but on a very short two day trip where I worked the whole time, and only went to a soapie. I started researching, and read about Pattaya and asked my co-working again who told me it was a better place to go for a few days of fun than Bangkok.

 

So off I went never having been there before, and by myself. Thank god for forums like this so I could read up on it.

I had a friend who had been 4 times before, he never really talked about it to much but i known that he loved it. He never talked about the bar girls are go gos are anything like that, just always said that its the best hoilday ever. Anyways, so i had just finished saving to redo my living room and bathroom. So we were sitting in my apartment pissed 1 night in Nov09 and he was telling me was going for 4 weeks over xmas 09 and was going alone but could'nt wait. At the time i thought fuck, i could do with a hoilday. I booked my flights a few days after without telling him, when i did tell him, he said he was shocked as most people say they'll go but its always bullshit. He come round and got my signed up to this forum and told me to watch a bunch of doc's about thailand. He explained the whole bar girl scene and how anything works. 5 weeks later i was in bangkok on my own, i arrived 2 days before him as could'nt get the same flights, i met him at the airport, taxi straight the pattaya and the rest is history. Best 4 weeks and xmas and new years of my life.

 

Heading back in 6 days for round 2, this time im going solo ;) But first time was very happy to have him show me the ropes.

I had friends from work who just raved about Phuket and this was back in the mid 90's. As much as they raved, I still didn't do anything about it. Heard more and more about Thailand over the years but I wasn't doing a lot of travel so never thought about it. Then I was flying to America and Europe a bit with work from 2005 onwards and finally got a flight via BKK to Europe and stayed for a couple of nights in BKK. Loved the mongering so came back about three times just spending time in BKK and tours up north etc. Each time I was in BKK, would meet guys in bars who had just come back from Patts and they all raved about it. So finally three years ago had my first trip to Patts and I now don't go anywhere else, exept for some side trips like Cambodia etc.

For me it was through a mate who for about 3 to 4 months kept on & on about a trip to Pattaya- joking at first, but this soon turned into a real nagging. At the time I was in London & to dammed busy with a very crappy job to meet any birds (yeah I was gagging for some too!).. so over a pint one night I said "well I'll leave it to you then" you know, cool as you can. Next thing I know, he rang me to say "get a month off-were going"! He booked us with Cosmos, flying Philippine Air: 4 nights in Bkk + 23 nights in Patts.

 

Now, here's the scene...very first mid-morning in Room 201, Flipper lodge (Soi 8) I woke to find... a SEXY.. NAKED.. BIRD! wrapped around me(called Oi, from Paradise bar) COR BLIMEY!!!! was this good! So I called over to my mate at the other side of room (like you do) "Hey, I've only pulled"!! he shouts back "You ***ing jammy git how'd you do that"?.. then he say's "Hey mate...so have I"!!

 

That day by the pool, these girls kept going on about "you must pay for bar".. & we said "No way- we paid for all our beers last night" We'd not a clue about bar fines!

 

The next week got better as I was seeing the oh-so-bloody-fit hotel receptionist called 'Pukkie' (Puk -as in Book) now I'll be honest, I never sealed the deal with her, but I got quite near..& that's not so bad + she didn't want me to spend a single Baht on her!!! She had a moter bike, told me to ride it (the bike)& showed me all around, even paid for her own drinks! Plus she sent me a birthday card back home a month later. Yup, you've got it, this English twit fell in love. She'd moved on by the next trip 4 months later(can I swear now?)

 

P.S, I found out about her game on that next trip...think 'working holiday' Germany!

Several years ago, I was digging around for places that offered good "horizontal refreshment". I read up about Thailand and thought it would be a great place to explore. I had a buddy that initially agreed to go with me, but he wound up having to bail. Without a wingman, I decided to go it alone solo. Went to BKK and had a fantastic time. I was hooked. I have been back every year since then. During my travels there, I eventually got to know a fellow who'd been making the BKK run for years longer than I had and visited much more often. He eventually dragged me down to Patts for a change of pace. I had heard about Pattaya, but the reviews/opinions I had read made me think it wasn't a place I'd want to visit. I was wrong and the experience was much better than I expected. It wasn't nearly as seedy as I dreaded and since I knew what kind of "refreshement" I was looking for, finding it was easy. I still enjoy BKK for some things, but now I'm not bound to just one place. I think BKK offers more places with better looking girls, but Patts is the best in terms of shear numbers, variety and value for your money.

I used to go to Costa Rica fairly regularly, but I changed jobs and the new one turned out to be a fail so i changed tracks again and just did not have the $$ for travel for a bit. Last summer my wallet was in condition for traveling and i was thinking of heading back to good ol' CR.

 

It was while I was catching up on the Costa Rica Ticas forum that I saw a reference to this site in a TR from Los. 10 minutes on this forum changed my travel plans and my first trip was a few months later.

 

Now I'm creeping up on departure for my 3rd trip within a year

Seemingly, I just ended up on a plane to Thailand one day.

 

I don't remember what led to the decision, really, other than a few months thinking about it.

 

I return in mid October though, so it was a good decision.

It was a little more than 1 year ago, Ive went on holiday to Thailand with my dad and my 2 young brothers. We had gone to bangkok, but never seen the mongering scene there, after that we went to Chiang mai where I had my first en second BG. After that we went to ko samet, wich i really hated because I wanted to go back to Chiang mai. 2 days in ko samet we decided to go to another place, wich was pattaya. I didnt know anything about this city, neighter my dad did. Offcourse we had spended our last 8 days in Pattaya. In november 2009 I made a solo trip myself for 5 weeks, the end of January I moved to pattaya and now I'm living in Pattaya for 7+ months. Its been great and until a year ago I could never think I would find myself living in Thailand at the age 20 years. Life can be so beautiful

First heard about Pattaya when guy who was a regular tanker driver at my work place got back from his thailand holiday back at the beginning of 2001.

I remember him getting out of his cab, doing cart-wheels and back flips,telling me had the time of his life, and told me of his Pattaya exploits.

I had just got out of a really shit relationship and was just on a mission to enjoy myself, and always fancied oriental girls so I didn't need much pursuading.

At the same time I just started to rent out my spare room to a good mate, and he was up for it to.

Six months later, in June, I went on my first trip. Couldn't wait to get back, and went again in December that year.

Now been 13 or 14 times since, am possibly going for 3 weeks in october/november.

Last summer I came across a bunch of videos on YouTube about Pattaya. They led me to this board. This board led me to add Pattaya to the Asian vacation I took this summer.

 

As I found out after I joined the board, all those videos were out there because you were having some kind of contest. I guess your contest did its job.
