Spicy is the only late club so all the FLers go there at 2 am. As does everybody else from sexpats, sextourists, backpackers, and students.

But mostly Freelancers. 500b will get them for the rest of the night.

500 baht for a longtime! What do you pay in barfine and longtime at beer bars and gogos?

The big attractions for tourists are Doi Suthep, Elephant Camp, Tiger Kingdom, Flight of the Gibbons, and the 'old city' as a whole. Loi Kroh road is packed with all the mongering you could want, every night, so fit that into your schedule whenever you like, finding a LT to go with you on any of those things will be easy and inexpensive.

Any advice on where to stay if you want to monger on Loi Kroh Rd.? I've never been to CM, but am open to the possibility.

^^ I dunno tbh. Last barfine I took was 300b back in 2006, 500-1000b will probably be accepted quickly enough, especially in the low season.

Ramming Lodge is on Loi kroh. I usually stay in the old city and rent a scooter. It's a small place to get around.

Raming Lodge or Pornping are good if you want to be in the middle of the bars. Stay anywhere in the old city near Thapae Gate if you don't mind walking 2-3 blocks to the bars, but don't want to be constantly surrounded by the night life.

Oh, and typical LT at bars before Songkran was 1000 baht, with 3-400 bf. I never go to go-gos.

Since low season started I've had FLs offer 500-1000, but haven't indulged.

Last week I stayed at the Top North hotel (not to be confused with the Top North Guest House)

Top North hotel is on Moon Mueang Road 200m walk from the top end of Loi Kroh Road, and the rooms are TB 850 per night and have aircon and bathroom. It has a large good clean swiming pool with pool bar, as well. Quite comortable and clean

Hows the weather/burn factor there in mid August?

Thinking of just hang'n round a pool during the day and mongering through the nite, 5 or 6 days in CM might see it out you think?

Also any off road m/cycling/ 350cc up scrambler rental going on?

I haven't been here during August, but that's peak of rainy season, so you might not get to hang around the pool as much as you'd like. The hottest months of the year are March and April, so I'd think burning is less of an issue during August than dry season.

There are a few places around town that rent off-road bikes, but I only know this from seeing them parked outside the shops. So far as where you'd go to ride them, I'm sure the rental places would be happy to tell you. Chiang Mai has plenty of mountains nearby, there must be several places. The only place I know of 'for sure' is in the Masae area, called X-Center or something like that. They advertise all over, and offer many extreme-ish outdoor sports options. (ATV, xorb, dirt bikes, etc) It's very professional looking place from the outside, but again, I've never gone. I've just driven by on the way to other places.

X-Center is very close to Masae waterfall, Masae elephant camp, a monkey center, Tiger Kingdom, and the Queen's botanical gardens -- all very big tourist attractions for Chiang Mai. These are all about a 20-30 minute ride outside of the city (tuktuk will not take you to this area, some songthaews will), but very close to one another, so you could probably do any two of these things in a given day, don't try for three. I don't recommend the waterfall unless you just want a nice place to picnic with friends. You'll probably have more fun and better pictures/memories from the other places. If you want to ride elephants, go to the elephant camp in the morning, then X-Center afterward for off-roading. The elephant camp stays open into the afternoon, but I read somewhere that you can't ride them after lunch-time.

Anyone ever stayed at the Centara Duangtawan hotel?

I am just wondering if it is girl friendly, just got off the phone with reception and i think it is all good, but i don't think she quite understood.

Is Raming Lodge girl friendly? I've heard mixed reports over the years. I booked through Agoda and booked for 2 people so hopefully I won't get any hassle.

Yes it is girl friendly! You shouldn't get any trouble when wringing back a guest (I should write...one guest!).

For a threesome you would have to pay extra...

Thanks. All the reviews of this place seem to be really good and it seems well placed too, not just by the bars but by the Thapae gate, close to the night market ect...

Although not always within my budget (during high season I like upmarket guesthouses, cheaper but still with quality rooms), this hotel really has the best location for enjoying the different aspects Chiang Mai has on offer. Just opposite the hotel, you will fing every evening foot massage, costing only 120 Baht/hour. No lookers but great ladies. Fancy a pancake after dinner? 10 Baht (you'll even find them a little bit further for 6 Baht if you are lucky!) Sunday market (on...Sundays!) within less than 2 minutes walking, night market less than 5 minutes, and the bars just next to you.

And it is a charming hotel, human scaled! Ways better than Duangtawan IMHO...

Then, in the Entertainment Complex (500m down Loi Kroh)where the Muay Thai boxing is and another 15 plus bars (maybe 100 girls).I barfined a girl from Chang Rai BF 500 and gave her TB1500 for all night and till 9.00am morning, and she was wrapped.

Then,on your right 300 down Loi Kroh Road from the Moon Mueang Road intersection is a small side street with the No 1 Bar (No1 Bar has 10 girls in it all can be bar fined)TB 500 for the bra fine, didn't test the girls but I think probably TB 1000-1500 LT. Closes at 2.00am

Then, there is SPOTLIGHT AGOGO on Moon Mueang Road (8-10 girls mostly sixes but 2 x eights, BF 600 TB, ST 1500 and LT 2500) Closes at 2.30am

Most girls are 6's but did see a few 8's and the odd 10.

The beer bar prices look higher than Pattaya's, though the word is CM is suppose to be cheaper. Looks like there are no bargains in CM.

If you head slightly out of town you can visit the hot springs of Fang as well as "doi angkan" which is every bit like a mountain top brigadoon village (go to the plateau for sunrise)

Been to CM twice.

You can also visit Doï Inthanon (no really close around 1h00 taxi ) there are great waterfalls on the way.

In the hot springs close to the city where you can relax, feet in hot water, and even buy and cook eggs ( don't worry not in the same places as feet bath :WinkGrin1: )

And there are great cooking schools in CM for around 8-1000 you can spend the whole day cooking and eating Thaï food. Some schools have great views of the surrounding mountains.

And do not miss the sunday afternoon market in the old city. The food stands are near the temples and i bet you will never see so many different things to eat (wonderful street food). There are also Dansing/singing schools and so many things to buy as souvenir...

CM is worth the trip for some days of chill

Great thread. I'm heading to CM after a couple of weeks in Pattaya at the end of October. Looking for a change of pace and scene but good to know there are still good p4p opportunities and good evening entertainment.

I came, I saw, I mongered!
